      I need some help.

I'm going off to college for my first year, which will severely cut down on my CoA time.

I might loose it completely though if I don't get the following problem sorted out in the next two days.

I've installed NWN using my diamond edition and the CD Keys that came with it on my Labtop I have gotten for to use in college. The computer is running Windows 7 and when ever I attempt to start up the game I get an error message that says:

"Program Blocked Due to Compatability Issues

Check online to see if solutions are avaliable from the microsoft website. If solutions are found Windows will automatically display a website that lists the steps you can take.

      Program: Neverwinter Nights
      Publisher: BioWare Corp.
      Location: C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwnmain.exe

Neverwinter Nights has a known compatability issue with this version of windows. For an update that is compatable with this version of windows contact BioWare Corp."

If I can't solve this problem I'll be gone from CoA for the entire school year. I'd appreciate help, advise, or links from people who are more tech savvy than I am or who might have encountered this or a similar problem in the past with Windows 7 or another version of Windows.

Hopefully I can fix this problem and will continue to see you all on a semi-regular basis.

Have you ran all the updates? If you can't get far enough to run the updates, Google "NWNEnglish1.69HotUUpdate.exe" and that should help.

I checked to see if mine was running in any special compatibility modes or anything and it's not.

        Wark!

I didn't have any problems playing NWN on Windows 7.
You need to run with administrator level privileges.
Right click on the NWN executable and choose Run As Administrator.

I'm running Windows 7 and I'm having no problems at all. I didn't need to change in settings or anything of the sort.

Dr. Penguin was very helpful, the update fixed the problem, although I do still need to run as an administrator and if I try and skip through the cinema scenes in the begining I get booted back to the desktop and neverwinter nights closes.

Other than have to watch that guy kill the minotaur over and over again I should have no problem playing in my free time at university.

                Thanks!

Just open your nwn.ini file, and change:-

                  [Display Options]
                  Disable Intro Movies=1

And you'll never have to hear that awful atari noise again.

Are there any known fixes for this problem? I run on Windows 7 64 bit, and can't get NWN to work for the life of me. I have tried the things that have been previously stated.

                      Thanks in advance.

All I had to do was download the critical rebuild patch Dr.Penguin recommended from the bioware site.

I already have it downloaded. I essentially loaded my hard-drive from my desktop onto my laptop. So I have the same exact files here as I do on my desktop. My desktop is a Vista 64 Bit, but Vista/7 work basically the same way so it doesn't matter with any other games. I will try actually loading it and see if that works. Thanks.
