With every RPG I play I constantly restart because I can't seem to play through with one character. Any game. Fallout, Arcanum, CoA, KOTOR, whatever.

How can I stop this? It drives me insane!

        Don't restart. Practice self control.

I think I painted a bad picture of myself. Let me start over. Damn!

You make it sound so easy.

I long suffered from this problem, and still do at times. The practice may be a test of will power, but the answer to your question is simple. Just don't start over. Force yourself to stick with what you start.

For City of Arabel, I'd just suggest you spend a couple weeks planning out a character. Ideally, after so much time planning, you won't get bored of the idea within a few days (which is probably one of the reasons you restart), and then commit to the character for at least a set amount of time, say six months.

I still suffer from this compulsive disorder. Oddly, this server is the only place I haven't done the same thing. (well other than getting pwned and remaking that is)

              I thought I was the only person…

I hear ya broes.. After that one and only character for me it has been hard to make new chars and be as excited to play them for a longer time. It's hard to achieve that new enthusiasm and renewing energy.

                Just my couple of cents..

I have this same problem! It's not because I get bored with my character though, it's that I think of a whole new storyline and character concept.

I generally end up with at least 10 characters that I play by the end of a month..

                  I know no remedy though!

I usually find that interacting and exploring the characters of as many people as you can does help keep your interest in your character alive, for then you no longer wish to break the large web of relationships you create. I notice that the chances of your getting bored with your character seem less when ten others are very interested in him.

Start a character and don't leave it until you have reached levul tin.
