yeah, so, I was chatting in tells to another player, and said something to the effect that i was getting better at confrontation and conflict. The person did an lol and siad somethign like "dude, all your characters have been confrontational!.

I said no, thats not true, and thought a minute. yeah they have.
Not one of my characters has started conflict, but each of them has risen to the bait of other characters.

So, I realized something. its not PvP and confrontation I dont like.

      its losing…

      Breakthrough :-)

Learn to like loosing and you'll have mastered the game.

Confrontation, conflict, cavorting in calamitous ways, all are fun to do. If you cannot stand getting your balls crushed when you're playing a confrontational PC, then don't do it.

The only exception to this rule is the Pit, because it's boring. No one likes a boring resolution.

Yep - As long as you don't fear losing, and learn to embrace it as part of a good story, you'll be doing fine.

On that note, losing shouldn't always mean perma-death. Perma-death should happen at the end of the story - Not when things are starting to get interesting. If you see your enemy running away at near death, and you've got that wand of fireball at hand - Consider not using it to shoot him down, and instead let him escape. That'll make for a much more interesting story, and allows the story to continue.

It's perfectly fine to use all the resources you have in an effort to survive, but it's not good for the setting nor the conflict nor the story to do everything in your power to kill everyone who might be your enemy, even if it would be perfectly IC to do so.

OOC courtesy, people. Give your quarry a chance to live, and they'll return the favor.

Characters: Semira Crimmon, Ex-Silver Talon, dabbling alchemist and wandmaker
Samuel (An alt purely for questing. Please try not to involve him in any plots!)

              I <3 OOC courtesy
^ - I see what you did there… [shakes his fist at thin air]

Yeah, who knows what might have happened if Merry had gotten away? Not that the big mouth little PIA did not deserve a smackdown ;-)
