Mathias enters the library seeking to identify the bat-like creature he has encountered in Old Town and outside the East Gate. He searches for examples of creatures with bat-like wings and that cannot be injured by ordinary weapons that appear similiar to what he has seen.

A librarian also tells him someone was recently looking into the existence of a 'Bat Lord' for some reason, though they couldn't really help them with anything specific.]
