OK, sorry, this is sort of a rant.
My character, a 6th level rogue with less than 40 hitpoints is griefed by a 1st level powerbuild grief fighter in eastmarket. 1 swing, crit, dead, fugue.

      There is no DM online.

The griefer continues for the next hour or so ganking any PC he can. It gets rediculous. The griefer loggs in with different characters and user accounts. PC's begin to Kill any character they suspect is the griefer. Characters (probably the griefer) show up in fugue and complain that this is a noobie server because "I was jumped by three pc's as soon as I arrived in arabel" PC's in fugue debate about bringing back old dead characters so they can run around naked to hunt down the griefer.

The point is, everything goes to hell in a hurry.

I know it is not possible for the DM team to be online 24/7, however, I ask for suggestions on what is to be done when such a situation IS happening, other than take screenies and try to get a DM in IRC.

I know I will probably be yelled at for beating a dead horse, that this has been discussed before… Sorry, as I said, this was a rant.

Take a screenshot, make a copy of your chat log and send it to the DMs. Also hop into IRC and see if a DM is around.

At times like this we need to bring in Orctavius Chestbasher or his close friends to save the weak and vulnerable.

            Snowball fight! Goooooooooo!

Just wondering, but how did a 1st lvl anything do Full Damage?

First let me explain one of the biggest reasons to get screenshots - so that the DM doesn't have to spend time searching logs and talking to various parties to try and work out what happened. Much as we like to trust the players we know and recognise and you may feel that we should take your word for everything we need to make sure we get it right with solid proof wherever possible.

If you don't know how to take screenshots find out and practice doing it a few times because if you don't the time may come and it's too late to learn.

Secondly there are ways that DMs can undo griefing so stay calm, try to contact a DM using all the means available and make sure you get some solid info like the account name and character name, what time the incident occurred. Try to summarise exactly what happened so that you can get the DM up to speed rapidly. Long meandering stories are not needed. Keep it short and to the point. Make sure names are spelled exactly right.

This approach may not offer an instant solution but it will mean that when the DMs do get to the scene they will be as quick as they can to sort things out.

I'd suggest logging out until a DM is on.

Octavious Chestbasher and his friends did a great job imo.

                    I had visions, I was in them;
I was looking into the mirror,
to see a little bit clearer,
the rottenness and evil in me.
