Textures : Opinion Wanted !!
-
Looks quite 3D in the distance indeed, because of the dark edges?
Looks very nice, but, isnt it possible to make it -really- 3D?
(yeah soz, I always ask for more) -
you cant make it actualy 3D, its a flat texture. and making it 3D would add a lot of polygones to the scene and make it longer to render and load.
as for the textire, looking good, the only comment I got is that the tracks looks kind of large compare to the characters, not sure if cartwheeps got foot wide wheels. Also, the tracks look a little purplish compared to the dirt road, maybe make it more brown to match the road.
-
ok, if you'll notice on the previous screenie and the one on the top, the roads have been undergoing construction.
I'm about 90% happy with my latest makeover,, the 10% I'm not happy with is ttr01_road03,, this is the tile that is placed on a 4-way road. Its a little hard to explain but basically what the engine does is cut this tile in half and place them opposite each other.
Anyway, with this make-over I cut down the width of the wagon tracks and tweaked the color a bit, I also believe I achieved that dried mud look that has been wet and dried countless times and a lil more 3-d.

sweet! much better like that yup!
now host the overide already!!!!
:D
-
Well, you asked for it..so here it is…....
Toro's overrideI took the liberty of plugging CoA in the description,, hope you DM's don't mind. I figure this will probably see a lot of downloads so we might get some traffic redirected from there.
-
WTF?!?! Awesome Graphix!!!
-
That looks fan-freakin-tastic!
-
That. Is. Legendary.
And only 3.6Mb at that!
-
Wow. . . 0.o . .
-
Does that gnarly ol' tree look any different? spot anything else ?
-
The walls are hot.
-
It just so happenned that a trip to Thunderholme let me try out a new idea I had: (FYI: I'm not in the pic because I play in FPS perspective sometimes, so thats me looking at them)
Anyway, I want your opinions on the road of course and that I have some grass peeking out thru the snow. I intend to make more sparse and shorter and I have to play with the color a bit more to make it look more dead.
But your get the idea. Does the effect work?
-
I think it needs more snow on the grass and roads!
-
You're right SI, I'm still have work to do on the road (make it more washed out with a lil more snow on it) . And the grass (make it shorter, sparser, deader)
I will probably do something with the cliff walls too.My question is does the effect of grass peeking thru the snow work? (aestetically sp?) I don't want to take away from it feeling very cold and mountainous.
I figure I'll have the grass peeking thru the snow by the roads (snow is thinnest there). Maybe by a couple of trees or maybe the treeline.
-
How's this looking?
-
That looks awesome. I love it. Minor nit-pick, the edges- the top edge, at least, of the road. The road itself looks great, but that side seems sharp.
-
That looks great!
-
awsome!
teach me how to make my own textures T_T
-
That really does look good!
-
Because the true test is when I see how it looks in the real world, (as opposed to a mod). Welcome to Flynn at dawn.
So far this override is just 11 files. I don't think I'll do the tracks on these roads. I've fiddled with some cliff walls but am unable to improve on biowares snow covered textures so I thinks thats it for this. Unless someone thinks of one or 2 more tile models that would benefit from 3-d grass.
