Going to install the mod that turns the two games and the final expansion into a single linear game, but you need to tell me how I should play!

Someone come up with the best path for me to follow. Race, Class and Alignment; and then the party I should take along with me. Do I kill Dynaheir for Edwin or rescue her for Minsc? Do Xzar and Monteron convince me to kill Khalid and Jaheira? Halp me to decide!

Leaning toward a cleric, since there's a distinct lack of any decent pure clerics in any of the games.

The game is more designed for good aligned characters. And Minsc is more awesome with Jaheira alive.

Edwin is tempting to have in your party, for the hilarious Edwina subquest but the good aligned NPCs far outweigh that.

As for class suggestions … I found BG2 best when playing a sorcerer or some other form of spellcaster. Race doesn't really come into it much unless you're keen on the scripted romance possibilities.

        Romar: Moustached man of Tempus
Selsal Thervain: Sneaky shoot stab stab
        Morich Leonson: Grumpy old man
        Kyra De'syr: DeSchurr NPC

Doesn't BG and BGII have multiplayer functionality?

You could probably find a few people around here who'd be into running through a co-op campaign with you.

Have Korgan, with practically anyone else. Korgan is awesome.

              Arcanum > BG.

              That’s right, I said it!

              :P

Team evil. Nuff said. But do you want power or fun?

Edwin is the most powerful mage you'll ever find. Even more powerful than you can possibly become because of his extra spell items. And also: he is so seriously awesome. Probably the most awesome videogame sidekick of all times. After Minsc.

Viconia is a pure cleric, she's fun, drow and also pretty powerful. Only downside is 9 Con, but that was never a problem for me. Also, clerics level really fast in BG. She has her Wis boosted in BG2 to comply with the higher level range.

Tiax is crap, mechanically. But he is the greatest lunatic and most fun you can ever bring into any party. Top that with Quale and they'll be at each others throats forever.

Sarevok is madly brutal, and the most powerful warrior there is. (Only that you get him quite late in BG2). Also he can be both good and evil.

Kagain is badass. Your classic mean mercenary. Also, he auto-regens due to illegally high Con.

Korgan is mad. Also, he makes everyone hate him. Cause of great fun. He is a mean hurting machine.

My two cents. Evil is harder, gets tons of guard spawns on you in the cities (a pain in BG I as they're quite hard, but with Tutu and higher levels it should be fine).

I played a maxed out half-orc fighter. Str 19, dex 18, con 19. Dual-wield katana/scimitar. Things had a tendency to die horribly around me, quickly. It was almost too easy. For some interesting fun, I suggest playing a bard (subclass?) or a wild mage (if you don't mind loading often, or you're badass and don't mind getting new npcs all the time).

On team good there is Keldorn who is awesome. Anomen gets decent, if you don't play female, cuz then he's a real pain as he goes on and on and on. Minsc is brilliant! In both games. Really. Disregard his meager stealth skills and give him a full plate and he'll kick evils butt into the next dimension. Also he can link up with any female mage in BG II. (not that it matters). Imoen can be a decent thief and a decent mage in BG I. If you get her back early in BG II she can still be a good asset. (Save all the side quests if you want to!) Nalia is decent too, and Aerie has the highest numbers of spells per day for any character (wizard/cleric).

Jan is… strange, but great fun. Really tho: you should get a combo of both good, evil and neutral people with you and struggle to balance their interests and wishes all the way down the adventure, without any of them turning on each other (and you). It will be a great experience regardless.

                Snowball fight! Goooooooooo!

It basically allows you to play through BG1 and its expansions with all the enhancements of 2, including graphics and classes. Its pure awesome.

Maybe it was my natural cowardice but I could never play anything other than a thief in that game, and why play anything other than a halfling thief? When Jaheira falls head over heels for the short stubby guy with hairy feet its even more fun.

The dying is permanent part makes FLing classes way too dangerous IMO

But i always play Good, so what do I know?

Its like he channels dead crazy people or something!

Played through as evil everytime. Prefered playing as a fighter as you get that castle in BG2 and the chance to order people to be executed and tax the peasants for gold.
Cant remember the other things you get as different classes, if anyone remembers put it down as id be interested to know what the classes i never tried get.

I'm quitting Barabus Fen, he was a character I made for the election and in retrospect I should have quit him after the result as you can only wander around insulting Verks clergy robes for so long before it gets old.

                            If I remember correctly:

                            Thief gets Thieves Guild
                            Bard gets Theatre?
Mage gets mage guild globe thingy?

                            tis all I remember

                              Yes, that's right.

Bards get that theater Haer Dalis resides at,
thieves get the guild in the docks,
                              mages get the planar sphere,
rangers become the town protector of that town in the north whose name I cannot recall…
                              druids get their own circle,
priests may join one of the temples,
paladins get into that order in the temple district.

I picked the sphere, of course.

Barbarians and monks share the fighter fortress. Sorcerers and wildmages share the planar sphere.

The theatre is really hard work and takes ages, but is a fun plot underway. The fighter fortress is rather… dull, and you get to reclaim it anyway. I would say the planar sphere is the more interesting. The thieves guild is ok, the ranger one seems dull and the temples are not all that interesting. Even if the evil one gets the least exp, but the most loot.

                                Snowball fight! Goooooooooo!
