      Everyone,
Below is my final cut at a CoA Advertisement Flyer. Can the DMs take a look at the below and let me know if there are any issues with it? Also, if any players have great ideas please post away. Once we get a DM approved flyer, I intend to create an advertisement thread. The idea is to post places we can advertise CoA and to keep ideas coming for how to get the word out. People can then grab the flyer from the Advertisement thread and put it up with a simple copy & paste or download and print. I honestly believe there is a massive pool of hard-core DnD players out there that would love to jump in if they knew about the server. Our job is just to give them the chance.

The USP's and ESP's should be alot more clear, and shouldnt be put at the very bottom of the flyer. (USP = Unique Selling Point, ESP = Emotional Selling Point).

You have the right idea, just need to make it functional :)

Character: Wouldnt you like to know?
Olouthitis: Character does awesome things for a few months, but inevitability hijacks an air ship and crashes it into an evil faction head quarters screaming battle cries.

The word "arc" (as in "Plot Arc") might appeal to some but intimidate/confuse others. I've never heard it outside of discussions specifically pertaining to CoA, I don't think.

If you say story arc, should be fine. Which he did. Story arc is pretty universal.

Under the details section you really don't need to capitalize every word. You'd only do that with titles. Other than that, it seems pretty spiffy!

I think it may entice the five people on the NWN bioware boards. Good job.

Not a background I'd choose to advertise an rpg game.
                    I mean… it's an empty street. :?

Not to be an ass, but with a Master of Science in Branding and Marketing, I can tell you one thing already:

All advertisement can do for a lousy product, is to kill it off faster.

Fix the server, then begin advertising.

Not to be an ass, but apparently it takes a Diploma of Science in Branding and Marketing before realizing that a badly advertised product will sell much more than a product no one knows exists.

That said, I think the advertisement looks pretty damn good.

How many times did you purchase a bag of apples, find all of them rotten, and immediately go out to buy a new bag from the same brand?

I have to weigh in…nobody would have ever purchased that stupid singing bass with out advertisements.
How many of you have relatives that have one collecting dust in a basement somewhere, or worse, still hanging in a foyer for the wonderfully fun sounds of motion activated music?

Advertising works. Get enough players in enough time zones and most of the issues I've seen bandied about will self correct. This will bring a whole new set of issues. Why? Because we, most of us, thrive on conflict, whether or not we like to admit it. It's why we love to hate politics. :)

Re : I'd expect better from someone with a Masters....in anything really.

                                      Why?
                                      Let me oversimplify.

The more focused your field of expertise, the less you actually know about anything else.
I have seen some truly brilliant PhD's do some spectacularly stupid shit! My favorite was in the application of the scientific method to see if a grill was hot enough to cook on. You can not make this shit up.

Question: Is the grill hot enough?
Answer : I don't know. let's design an experiment to find out.
Hypothesis : If the grill is hot enough to cook on, it will burn my fingers if I touch it.
                                      Experiment: Touch the grill.

                                      ***** hot!**
Can you replicate the results of the experiment?
                                      TOUCH THE GRILL AGAIN!
                                      Results: SHIT that's hot!

The parts in BOLD happened just as described, the rest is what I have to assume this guy was thinking, because if he was't thinking this, he was just stupid, and I can't believe that about this man.
I just watched this in awe at the massive lack of common sense this noted Biology Professor displayed.

                                        As derailed as this is…

If there are two bad products that co-exist on a shelf at the local store, the badly advertised one will have a shorter life. The one noone knows about, but actually can see on a shelf at the store will last longer due to people -not- knowing how awful it is and keep buying just to try out. Does noone buy products they dont know about once to see if they are better than advertised ones? Hell, we 're talking of something cheap even. In this case bad reputation of a well known product (advertised) spreads quickly. The unknown product will still keep its low sales but it will exist longer. The advertised one will make a burst of initial sales and thats it.

Our local store shelf used to be gamespy though, and now there is no way to see the list of servers without digging deep into the game and do some forum searching. So our "product" is essentially non existent, one has to specifically seek it in a not so convenient way as to just purchase it, in which case I prefer having some advertising, preferably after some of the promissed stuff in the advertisement are complete.

P.S. You ll be amazed on how many things seem very logical, but when scientifically examined are proven wrong. Not that science cannot be stupid at times. There wouldn't be a marketing department in universities if it was just a matter of simple logic.

On a side note why should we be so aggressive when we disagree with someone?

Didn't expect an avid veteran CoA player to compare his experience here to a bag of rotten apples.
But in any case, if you love rotten apples, Olouth, chances are there will be more people like us out there.
