Main questions and greetings

Hello everyone, I've just arrived here and I have a few questions to ask
1 - How does the subrace system works ? (wild elves, for example) Does it apply modifiers or not?
2 - Which deities count as ranger deities? Which, instead, are suitable to worship for divine powers?
3 - Do I have to create a detailed background for my character in advance? Or can I take some more time to define it?
4 - Does this server use custom feats or something like that? Thanks to you all

Hi there, and welcome to Arabel!
1. As far as I know* (*Don't quote me on this), the only subraces that apply modifiers to your character are ones that DMs add to your character after you've applied for that particular subrace. This system of asking for a permission helps maintain a checks-and-balances system against those who might abuse powerful subraces such as tieflings and half-dragons.
2. The City of Arabel Wiki has a page on Druid/Nature deities, all of which should be valid for ranger's divine spellcasting. However, you do NOT have to have a nature deity in order to play a ranger - only to be able to cast their spells, if I recall correctly.
3. You do not, though it is lightly recommended. You don't have to come up with a fancy three-page essay on their background, but simple details such as country of origin might help the immersion. By all means, let it flesh out as you play! That's what I do.
4. It does not, however, we do have a list of custom cleric domains available for use. They can be found here.
I hope this helps!

1 - How does the subrace system works ? (wild elves, for example) Does it apply modifiers or not?
Subraces that receive modifiers outside of the basic game mechanics require application. As do any concepts that have you being part of a canon organization, nobility, etc… Here is some informaiton on Coa Races Subraces
2 - Which deities count as ranger deities? Which, instead, are suitable to worship for divine powers?
Here is a list of CoA dieties and their applicable domains for cleircs. There are custom domains, also available on the Wiki

3 - Do I have to create a detailed background for my character in advance? Or can I take some more time to define it?
Personal preference, but it's highly recommended you come IG with a concept that at least has some substance to it. Here is a forum post by a DM to help on that
4 - Does this server use custom feats or something like that?
It uses custom domains, custom summoning system, custom polymorph system, custom tracking system for rangers, custom detect evil, custom shapechange for druids… There is a lot of custom. Browsing the Players Resource Forums and the Wiki will have a lot of information beyond what I linked to here.
Welcome to CoA

Note: A lot of the links within the posts that I have linked to are still broken. Just scroll, or you'll get logged out and it will be annoying. Also, if you have any concept specific questions, just drop into IRC and join #CoACharacters

There are none application subraces that apply modifiers. I think there was a link to them in an above post. One of them is wood elf. there are more. Types of Dwarves (not duergar) elves (not drow) and halflings (not fetch) a lot of those will work fine and dont need an app.
Rangers dont need a nature deity. not even to cast spells.
Do what you like with your background, I suggest you get playing and develop it as you go along while you get a feel for the server.
The server has many many custom scripts, domains, sorceror themes, lots of stuff. Have a look at the wiki and browse about the forums (player resources is a good spot) the wiki really does need re-organising with sections and links on the first page. But check the 'all articles' link and see if you find a link in there that catches your eye.
Welcome.

As for subraces like sun elves, wild elves, wood else, that sort of things, all you have to do is choose the elf race and in subrace enter the subrace you want. Please note some subraces require an application like drows for example.
Moon Elves
(Base Race- ELF, Sub Race- leave blank or Moon Elf)
Sun Elves +2 Int, -2 Con
(Base Race- ELF, Sub Race- Sun Elf)
Wild Elves +2 Dex, -2 Int
(Base Race- ELF, Sub Race- Wild Elf)
Wood Elves +2 Str, +2 Dex, - 2 Con, -2 Int, -2 Cha
(Base Race- ELF, Sub Race- Wood Elf)We do not have custom feat but we do have custom domains which you need to download IF you want to use them. They are not necessary though, you can use any of the normal nwn domains (as long as they fit with the deity's domains. see wiki page) If you want to use the Luck domain, you will need to download the domains for it to work properly.
We have some sorcerer themes also. Lumomancer and Shadow Adept if you look at the last post here: /topic/4439 you will find the overide for this. It also includes the custom domains.
for any other info, look over the announcement forums and the player resource forums.

(Base Race- ELF, Sub Race- Wood Elf)You have no idea how long i've been trying to find this list. Thanks Matriarch!!!!!! Anyway you can post the stats on the non app subraces?
-
That list, completed, should really be in player resources. IMO.

(Base Race- ELF, Sub Race- Wood Elf)Heh Matriarch, that's a big issue. I'll tell you why :)
I've chosen "Sun Elf", and what I get are +2 INT plus -2 DES (that Sun elves don't have as a bonus, so it must be "adjusted") and -2 COS (already done by elf race). Two problems.
The INT bonus is in green color (and the DES is in red color), that means I can't use it to get bonus skill points as I advance, and that that stacks also with magic items bonuses.I thought there could be a Leto change somewhere… I'm a little disappointed

Lol. High Five for V5!

I look forward to killing you IG.

You mean you guys don't know about the list of stats for all non-app subraces? Its available (along with favored class) in the Player resource.
