Soooo… Neverwinter MMO?

Trailer kicks ass:

As much as I want it to succeed I don't see it having enough freedom to Roleplay properly on (Ala DnD) and what probably will be there will be a normal Neverwinter SP/Party campaign in an MMO skin.

Ahahahahahaahahahahahahaahahahahahahahaahahahahaahahaha…
Hell nawl.
-
I'll play it but I don't expect it to be anything beyond your hack and slash fare though if private servers emerge than there could be the actual potential for RP but right now the only MMO I have my eyes on is Guild Wars 2.
-
It's 4th Ed, of course it's an MMO.

which is precisely why I will be avoiding it. I was thoroughly disappointed with 4th ed.
-
My forcast: FAILURE and plenty of it!.

No way. NwN the First 4life, biatches.

Jagged wins this thread.

why cant they just grab nwn 1 and revamp it? better graphics, incorporate all the cool scripts the community came up with, put in some new monsters and PrCs and there! new and improved nwn. scripts, toolsets and online plays like the old one but with better looks and a new oc. how hard it is! T_T

That would be ideal.

Because they don't expect it to be successful, because they're aiming for mainstream public that will fork over optimal amounts of cash, not about the enjoyment of those few people that still play NWN 1.
-
-_- mmo are annoying…
-
I would see a lot of new players buying a revamped nwn 1 imo
Nwn is old enough that no one who hasn't played it would realize they'd been fooled into rebuying the same game with more features.

I think there a real gap in the market for deeper online RPG myself, I mean I played WOW and Guild Wars a little, but there nothing like Arabel in taste. I mean look at events like the Civil War and Fall of Castle Crag. Payers input can -change- things.
I mean it keeps me going to a ten year old game engine, surely someone can make something more modern, with that same "your actions count" feeling, even if it more on a guild based level?
-
why would they when they can make billions by churning out utter shite? and employing spotty dumb utterly un-creative 'admins'?
-
This is typical business style of Hasbro / WotC. You can either come along for the ride, or get left behind. Funny how they try to change that style and are working on 5th edition, but can't seem to apply it to the video game world either.
Maybe we should hit up Paizo for a decent online RPG.
-
thats not a bad idea.

This started off as a non-MMO, fyi. After Cryptic was bought by Perfect World, PW wanted to redo it as an MMO. However, keep in mind that it's designed as pure F2P.
My thought is that a F2P model might actually be really nice for a game like this. People pay for things they love. (To wit, people have spent $10,000 keeping Arabel running over the years, just in various hosting costs/etc, not counting the time/effort/etc.)
