Where Can My HD Space Be Hiding?
-
So far this morning I've deleted NWN 16 odd gigs, Deus Ex HR 7 Gigs, Call of Duty 8 Gigs odd.
I've got a 75 Gig HD, by checking my folders I can account for 20 odd Gigs of use (but I must be missing something).
I've tried installing Total War Shogun 2 a few times this morning and have failed for varying reasons. Deleted the Shogun 2 Folders, have nothing in the recycle bin, have done a disk cleanup and apparently now only have 10.5 Gigs of free space?!?!
Any ideas, this is sending me mental.

Turn show hidden fioes and folders on.
Go into root of your HD.
Right click folder, click properties, check how big
Find folder/file that is big.
Decide what to do with it.
Also, you sure shogun didnt put a mass of files in like, my games or some such sillyness?
Just goin to have to check every folder till you find where the space is being eaten.

Ahh thanks Gimpatronic. How do I show hidden files and folders, I mean where do I find that option?
Thanks.

Depends on your operating system. Yo running windows seven or xp or what?
Its in the options within explorer though (not internet explorer)
Also, google 'show hidden files and folders on operating system x'

No matter, I accidentally deleted about 8 gigs of Shogun 2 so I can no longer play it anyway, I now have absolutely not a game on my PC but 30 Gigs of free space.
Just one of those days I guess…

Reinstall NWN and all will be well.

The little Missus speaks wisdom. Its what we are here for after all.

Yeah that's the plan.
I really didn't want to uninstall NWN but it was getting so large with unused haks and things and I was nervous of deleting any not knowing what might affect what. I'm a bit gutted about losing all my modules and saves but I only really like to play Arabel nowadays so that's not the end of the world. I had planned re-installing NWN fresh once I had Shogun 2 installed.
Anyway, thanks for the help all :-)
EDIT - LMAO!! I really shouldn't be allowed around computers unsupervised, I'm sure I'm jinxed. Mysteriously I now have over 40 Gigs free, the free space appeared as mysteriously as it disappeared earlier.

240 gig HDs are so cheap… (like 50 dollars).

Yes, I have a brand new 1.0 TB drive that only lasted a few weeks after installation. As it has all my personal stuff on it I'm just waiting until Xmas when I'll see my brother and hopefully he can get it working again.
Even that only cost 50 quid US$75.

If you're buying harddrives you better do it fast. All of them are produced in Thailand and the country is basically under water atm, so all their factories are ruined. Prices will rise. Alot.

Thank me later ;)
