NVN Keys

Is there a way to retrieve a key from the CD itself? I really don't remember my disk coming with keys but I'll never know because I don't have the box anymore, just the disk.
-
Nope.
Buy new ones is only option. All disks are the same. Only the bit of paper/whatever with the CD key is different.
-
CD-keys are not tied to a spescific CD, but rather the product itself. Thus finding your CD-keys from them would be impossible. Also, since Bioware shut down the website there is no longer the access there either even if you had uploaded them to your profile there for backup.
However, since the master server is no longer available I suppose they no longer verify your CD-keys, meaning any keygen should do.Also: all CD-keys for NWN, SoU and HotU are interchangeable.
-
Do you have an old backup of your old system? It is really easy to find your keys in the NWN folder. nwncdkey.ini, or nwnkey.ini. You open it up with notepad or something similar, and they will be waving and shouting "hello!"
:)
-
Exactly what Aron said.
It is also possible to check the "Registry"for all CD-Keys or registry keys used on your system, even if the game/product was uninstalled. Assuming you did not format your computer.
-
Just use "Run" and then fire up regedit.exe iirc. And then mess around a bit (BUT DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING) and you'll likely find it. I guess?
-
You'll not find your NWN CD keys in the registry. I've just checked mine to confirm this.
The Keys are only stored in the ini files given above.
-
On a side note, what is with these GoG CD-keys. Savn roped me into buying NWN from them and these keys been iffy ever since.
-
I luckily still had the keys for NWN and SoU but not HotU.
I got a key somewhere from the internet not expecting to be able to play online anymore but amazingly I've had no problems and my char's were still in the vault.
-
I always recover my keys from the Bioware website

They say it is offline now. May I suggest you to archive them to the most reliable type of memory? Yes, I mean paper.
:D -
I always recover my keys from the Bioware website
That's what I did in the past but as mentioned, that option is now closed.
It's best to commit them to paper and put them somewhere safe.
I hope you can get the issue resolved.
-
it would worth a sticky in the announcement forum, on my opinion.
-
I have mine in the boxes, on paper in a notebook, emailed to myself to two webmail accounts, and stored on four harddrives.
I aint losin mine.

Your account is not affected by your CD-keys, meaning you can log into your account from any PC with NWN installed. Since the master server is no longer active they don't even check your passwords, meaning you can log into any account you want and gain full access to all their vaults on all servers. Doing this however will likely get your IP supapwned by the DMs.
So if you tatoo the keys on your ass or just do like me and don't lose the boxes you'll be just fine.
