Needing a place to stay in Toronto
-
So, Im pretty desperate that I have to post this, and for a ton of reasons I really shouldn't but I have little choice now so I thought I'd ask the community I know and love to see if just maybe I'll hit a break for once. Im not all too keen on throwing these details out there either, but a few players already know so what the hell.
I need a place to stay in Toronto (Preferably near Scarburrough, but I have money for bus travel 1hourmax). I need to stay for free however, and yes I know that is a lot to ask but Im coming from a third world country to first, I simply don't have money to rent a place, of course I'd pay for food/water however.
The reason I need this is cause I really want to visit my bf (Shocker, yes Im gay, don't hate.) but theres a number of complications to this, and I'll let you know if theres anyone on COA that might be able offer a place. If you could offer illegal work too that would be great XD, but Im not expecting it.
So yeah, thought I'd ask the community to see what my options are. Let me know here or by PM if you could offer such a thing.
Thanks. (Totally feel so awkward posting this all)

I sadly live across the pond, so it'd be a 10-hour flight or so to get there (which I guess breaches your bugdet) but you could've stayed at my place otherwise.
Sounds like you're allready in Canadia, so I hope you manage to figure something out. Good luck, bro. -
Thanks for the offer anyways. Im not in Canada yet, just trying to find a place to stay before I try organising everything.

There are shelters in most major cities for people without home, such as the salvation army.
They provide you with free lodging as well as food, and also provide any hygienic necessities such as deodorant, shampoo, body-wash, showering etc free.
As well they give out free clothing, and most jobs that are looking for temps to do a bit of work under the table (whether it be construction work or helping set up a fair) will go to these shelters to find workers.
I'm not sure if you'd qualify but residents of these shelters also qualify for PNA, essentially they give you 4$ for every day you spent at the shelter, as personal spending money once every week (which I find to be very silly) so that you can buy smokes or whatever you need.
Its not the peek of luxury, but its actually better quality living than most bachelors get when they first move out.
I don't know how many shelters are in Toronto but there's usually more than enough.

I live to far east for your bus fair man :(
Nova scotia a 21 hour drive -
OMG Youre a dude?! Sorry, couldnt resist. Dont feel bad or stupid for asking mate. The CoA Community has seen alot worse in my time here.
I wish I could help, but I, as Smurf, live a bit too far east. Otherwise I would have loved to have you stay here for a while.
That said, I know a few people in Canada, and I will try and see what I can do for you mate. I am not promising anything, but Ill see what I can do!
Oh, and Kudos for being this brave! Takes guts!

All of my guts and more. I actually suffer from horrible anxiety and social disorders and one of the reasons why I want to try something so drastic like this is to try and get over those, even though its risky and all. The things you do for love
And yes Im a dude! XD
I refuse to play a female character on Coa >.>. I can never tell what gender all of you guys are though!
Got a few offers of help so far but nothing solid yet, although someone from Coa said he may be able to help, and someone from another community I go to, although he lives abit too far and travel gets expensive. I hate living in a third world country. 20$ for travel must be nothing to a Canadian, but to me thats an entire days pay. x.x

I can't help that much either since I'm near Montreal, that's a 6 hour drive by car. I don't really know anyone closely enough that lives in the region.
If you are really desperate, maybe you could stay at a Youth Hostel (at least until you find a better alternative once you are in the city? I don't know if that is a good plan for you). I haven't checked if there is one close to the location you are looking for.
Good luck!

Good luck, Eliphas. I live on the wrong continent to be of much help, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

There's a few other options if you need accommodation but can't pay. There's a bunch of websites that organise courchsurfing now-days eg htpp://www.couchsurfing.org where you can find a place to stay for free in someone's house. I have a few friends who've tried this, with some positive, some negative experiences.
Then there's WWOOFing, which might be better if you want a more customer/seller relationship with your accommodation. WWOOFing is where you go and do farm jobs/chores and are payed in room and meals. There are many community websites to find places to do this.
I had a quick look here and found a couple of places near Toronto, so that might be a decent option?

Not sure what the climate is like where you come from but Canadian Winters might be a bit of a shock to the system if your from a warm place. Toronto was 11 C, where i live in Alberta was about -25C.
Maybe there's an Occupy Movement close to where you need to be? If you don't mind being around dirty communist hippy types? http://www.torontoobserver.ca/2011/10/2 ... carborough
