GSF Necromancy and the spell 'poison'
-
Bit weird. Tried this spell out with GSF necromancy and ended up with a DC of 17 with 23 will (was buffed)
How….does that work? wheres it getting 17 from?
also, the PC I used it on who failed the first hit of the poison, reported losing.... 11! (11!) con on the first hit. Something is amiss... as its supposed to affect strength by d6 for both hits.
My DC for infestation of maggots was 23 for instance (I think)
halp?

Test it again? Cause it makes little sense.
-
It's meant to do 1d6 str damage vanilla-wise.
-
As the player he cast that on.. I can attest I failed the DC 17 Fort save by rolling a 4 instead of a 7.. go figure.. but it hit me for 11 Con dmg. The Disease save was a DC 20ish, but I rolled a 19 so I am not sure what it would have done.
-
Disease save? Yet another "well done" to nwn's programmers.
-
The disease save was for infestation of maggots DC 23 fort save vs disease, and is working perfectly.
I cast that first, he made the save, then I cast poison, which is a fort save vs poison, which should have been the same DC as the maggots, but was DC 17 and did con instead of strength.
I have tested it twice since, and the DC is all I could test, because the person made the stupid low save.
I also tested it outside of CoA, and it came out at ….DC 18.... dont know what the poison was because it was against a monster and there was too much else in the combat log to figure out if it hit their str or con.
-
18 makes sense. As the spell says, if you succeed at a melee touch attack, the target suffers the effects of the poison. The DC to resist that specific poison is 18. But not 17.
-
This sucks. I'm going to drop to lvl one and rebuild from there then I think!
Cheers count.

Or you could bribe Mister B to script a correction of the spell. I heard he likes bacon.
-
I got loads in my fridge.
If the correction was to make the DC based off your Necromancy school DC's I would be happy, if it got set back to 18…. I would be sad.
MrBacon?! plz

The poison has a set DC, which is fort based, so GSF necro won't modify it.
However thats where a ridiculously high Infestation of maggots DC comes in handy, you lower their con bonus and in extention their fort save, and poison then kicks their ass.
Also if its con poison instead of STR then thats even better, dishes out a lot of damage, makes em more susceptible to other spells and could potentialy kill them through con drain alone.
