Arabel in Nwn2
-
Is there any server in Nwn 2 , that is alot like Arabel?
-
Tales of Moonsea was made by some of the CoA community and former DMs of this server.
-
Is it a good server like CoA? How many players are active in it?
-
NWN2 wasn't much of a success when it came to the PW field; I've never seen it have many people online. CoA is your best bet honestly

I was a DM in the development phase of the project and it’s certainly well put together with interesting factions, characters and plots. Can’t comment on the player count as I haven’t touched it for three years personally as I despise the NWN2 format - that said I understand succeeding updates have vastly improved the game. That’s the only drawback in my opinion, and it’s through no fault of their own, its just NWN2 is difficult at the best of times.
If you enjoy NWN2 you’ll be hard pushed to find a better server.
-
NwN 2 as it stands right now isn't bad. But yes- it's a lot more unweildy than nwn.
Trouble is, nwn2 sucked for so long, by the time it got really good, it had lost a lot of it's fans.
Some of the earlier versions of nwn2 were very unstable and resource hogging, from what I read/personally experienced with the game.
-
Indeed…. I'm well aware of the bugs, and the errors that the game had, before it's updates... :( It's a shame though, i have never got bothered, with nwn2 much... in fact, because i have heard of it's failure as a game, i never wanted to test it myself....
CoA will be there for us , lads!! :)

It was pretty. Single player campaigns were a lot better than nwn's. 3.5 rules (which are awesome), and fluff like new spells, PrCs, etc.
That's about all I can say for it. I'd personally take Amnesia/Dead Space/Dragon Age/Mass Effect/New Fallout games over NwN2 if I wanted single player fun.
-
I love nwn2. I love the 3,5 rules, and I LOVE that when you equip a one handed medium weapon without anything else, its wielded as a two handed.
Id say give it a go. I have just installed my nwn2 again, since I am having a hard time finding the time to play more than an hour or so a day.

I was one of the Build-Team members, and I found the client far too unwieldy and absolutely no fun to mess with.
They are pushing strong, though, so by all means if you want to try it out, go for it. They are a community built from ours, and I do wish them well in their various endeavors.
Just make sure you come play CoA, too!
-
Elegy, i am around CoA for some years… i'm not sure if they are 5 years or more... Though, i never manage to do something on my own, not even a small group... Anyway, from now on, i will try to improve my game and become better.
I would be extremely disappointed, if CoA would stop running in the years to come...
I will personaly play in the server, until my soul will leave my body!

If MUD can survive 20 years, anything can. CoA's not going anywhere.
-
CoA Rocks! I think I've been off and on for 7 years now.

I actually liked my short trip in ToM, and at first I didn't like the UI and the general feeling of the game, along with the numerous bugs of the game (not due to the ToM module, the game alone had so many bugs that caused frequent crashes).
At some point you do get used to the UI though and the 3.5 edition rules are much better (rangers are fun! tumble gives bonus AC every 10 invested points, list of minor tweaks goes on..). At that point I started really enjoying the game on a few servers, ToM was one of them though not my main "home server". Reason was mostly the low population, though it was mostly in Euro zone that not many people where on, also it was in beta stage for the whole time I was there so things may have changed.
I m seriously thinking of seeing whats going on in that game/server again really, as it really was very very CoA-like. Population might not be as much as CoA, few servers in NWN2 have that many players, and those that do, are mainly action/RP, high magic high hack 'n' slash environments.
Oh and another bad thing about NWN2 servers…
You have to download a huge amount of data before playing, which puts you off. Even with nowadays data rates it takes like 30 mins-2hours which doesn't help much in making the first time logging and trying out a server a breeze...
I ll still be trying the thing out though!
My two cents about my experience there.
-
Yes, those download times clinched it for me and nwn2 multiplayer. My connection is not a very fast one for big downloads.

I still spend half my time day dreaming about what concept I'll play when I get back online and I haven't played in over a year!
