London Riots
-
Some people over the pond and in Europe may not be aware of what's going on in London currently, but I just want to say I hope that anyone from the CoA community caught up in the mess that's going on is safe and sound.
-
I'd like more details on this shooting. I'd think it were an accident, but it doesn't say in this article.
-
There was a guy in a cab who supposedly shot at the police first (a police radio was said to have a bullet lodged in it)
The police reacted and shot the guy. The family staged a peaceful protest outside the police station where it took place, then the riots kicked off.
-
the riots are going on cuz people just want to riot, just like what happened with the student protests, its nothing to do with the shooting
-
Who is that dapper young rioter?

Hope all our UKers living in London are safe.
-
Our thoughts are with anyone caught up in the riots.
-
Perfect. I'll be moving in 10 days to UK, and now I read that Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Bristol are upside down as well. I can only hope it ends soon, these things spread like wildfire.
-
The Met are putting 13,000 officers on the streets tonight - but I can only see it getting worse.
The scary thing is that it's spreading to cities like Liverpool, Birmingham and Nottingham.
-
I'm safe for what it is worth, but some of my friends and family live near areas which have been affected. Some people are just idiots, they really are.
-
Serious qwestion here…but...
Where are the fucking children?
-
Everyone involved should be shot in the back of the head, no questions asked.
-
They were just down the road from me! It was insane watching the news and seeing them come closer and closer. My local Maccy D's was hit :(
The violence isnt centered around anything, its just rioting for the sake of rioting.
-
They help you up, and rob you blind
I'm with Caek on this one. Somehow you have to stop this madness.
-
It’s insane! I was watching the news this morning and some woman’s baby was stolen for an hour. Madness! I’m not sure how they can possibly even try to justify it as sticking it to the man anymore, or standing up for their rights, or whatever they’re claiming it’s based on.
Rampant criminality and opportunism.

-
It's rampant criminality yes, but people keep removing the political factor here. The UK is in a recession, jobs are going/gone and the future of a lot of poorer people in the country is looking bleak. People are angry, and this is what angry people do.
-
There are more people in London alone than the whole of Scotland. That's a scary thought when I think of these riots. I hope this sorry episode can be brought to a close soon because it really is an alarming sight to see even from this far away.

I just read an article about 16,000 officers and rubber bullets for tonight's party, first time in UK history. Sad
