EBooks
-
Hey all,
In real life I am a writer and I am looking to get my first book published in the not so distant future. I am going down the traditional path with my book (contacting reputed publishing houses and literary agents), although I am strongly considering, simultaneously releasing my work as a ebook as well, which if I do, I am wanting to do sooner rather than later.
My reasons for considering the ebook route are:
-
If I am already selling a title as an ebook, it does help me convince a publisher/agent, that I have a viable product.
-
I can get my book into the market immediately, so I can get my ideas out sooner and make money faster - It usually takes a year incidentally to get out a title using traditional means.
-
I get the impression that the market is slowly moving more towards ebooks and that its the future.
As there are lots of intelligent people who participate on this server, literally from all over the world, I thought I would ask the community a few questions to aid me in my market research, if anyone has the time, to help with this, I would be highly grateful.
-
Have you ever read an ebook?
-
What was the subject area or areas? fiction, history, politics, etc
-
If you have on what hardware device? mobile, pc, etc
-
On what software platform? Kindle, Sony, etc?
-
Where did you buy it? Amazon or other? please specify if other
-
What nationality are you? (This is purely so I can see in which nations, ebooks seem popular)
-
Anything else you want to say on this subject.
Where I am now, I am thinking of using kindle software, putting my book on amazon, setting up a related blog and website and marketing my work through the political associations I hold and the net. If anyone is interested the subject of my work is civil rights.
Thanks ahead for your time

Blurb comes recommended.
A friend of mine recently published some of her own work through this particular agency. There's also a few other options: Lulu for instance.
