Some things noticed
-
Okay so over the past week I have noticed a few things that have been bugging me OOCly and I would like to address them. If a DM would like to correct me on anything please do so
-
Dropping Items all over the city: We have trashcans for a reason people. Don't drop your Fivestar packages in the street or your Intellect Thief Brains on a table. Find a can.
-
Metagaming Buffing: This is the 'Oh a Blue NPC that I know will initiate a fight and would normally be Hostile ICly. Lets buff up to no end -then- talk to him.' I have a HUGE problem with this and I will quite often just talk to him while your buffing. This is metagaming. Cut it out.
3) Asking if it's safe to respawn: This is a common practice. It's still metagaming and the Conversation to respawn even states that there is a chance it is not safe and you die. This is the risk of it. If you want a close to surefire way? Wait a bit. Just because you can respawn quickly… should you. <–- DM Cracked Ignore
Just some things that I wanted to point out. Sorry if it seems I am ranting. -

I agree totally with 2.
However:
1: People are always going to throw away aka litter to move faster, this isn't likely ever going to change. People litter and just throw away things RL too!
3: I don't really agree with this, sure. Its ooc. Though no one really wants to die twice after just respawning. I think everyone asks (Never actually seen anyone who hasn't!) Its also a hassle from the first death, dieing twice like that is horribly crappy, for some people they'd stop playing (Temporarily) all together.
-
I know you weren't in the 2nd Grodd group with us Eliphas, but I died a good 5-6 times and never once asked if it were safe. Sometimes I spawned in the clear. Sometimes I spawned in the middle of DM's spawning more Gobbos so I was chucking rocks in my skivvies.
The first one isn't really an IC thing it's more of an OOC thing. All the litter, the armor on the ground, random quest items left out, attributes to the lag we suffer from on a daily basis.

It is totally legit to ask if it is safe to respawn. Since the whole point is to roleplay that you only got knocked out–not killed--it makes sense your friends would rouse you when it is safe to do so.

Also, a sure fire way to know if it's safe to respawn…just look at the party roster. If there are no "combat action" icons, then it's a pretty safe bet that it's clear to spawn. >>

Okay this is my mistake then. I just know (No I do not remember who it was) a DM scolded my party for asking if it was safe to spawn in Party Chat… But that may have just been because we used party chat... Oh well then
-
Totally agree with number 1, half of Eaglemans heroic deeds around the city are picking up trash and scolding people who litter!
Also agree with number 2, but when you've done a quest for the 500th time it gets old RPing that you are totally suprised at whats ahead and you just wanna suit up and get ready.
Number 3 I disgree with totally and am glad the DM's do as well, firstly this IS a game and dying isnt fun in the first place, but dying then spawning when its not safe and dying again is even LESS fun and would be a quick way for me to not wanna stay with any particular character.

Buffing should be interpreted as a hostle action. If i see an enemy buffing, I'm going after them before they can get the spell out.

I also worry sometimes about killing every single thing in the room before talking to the blue guy. Fighting sometimes has to occur before you can speak to him, but once its possible, if theres some hostile in the corner, I dont think running over to beat it to death before talking to the blue guy is ok really, seems a bit odd that the big boss is gonna stand there and let you slay his minions before he talks to you.

This is one of those Nescessary evils. It's sort of hard to get past this. I do believe if you just attack one of these blue guys it works the same but idk if this factionbugs or anything

Well, sure fire is a bit of an exaggeration, it's just very likely to work.
They may have fled and be regrouping and waiting for healing kits to finish working. Whatever killed you did just, after all, kill you. -

Acctually that is a guarenteed way to bug most quests. Particularly parners.

Sorry, but not buffing before the Warehouse quest guy attacks or the druid from Kantheas goes nuts is silly. From an IC point of view, the guy standing about while his minions try to kill you should be considered hostile, but he just doesn't have a weapon out yet. No one is going to let their guard down when faced with a powerful looking "boss" and think he's just going to ask you for tea.

Folks have expressed on No's 1 and 3.
No2 is often metagaming but als can be interpreted differently. You enter a room having fought many monsters and see another NPC ahead of you. Are you going to assume he's safe and wishes to talk, or is he an enemy and you should prepare? Does he look powerful and menacing such that preparations are wise? All the previous folks/monsters you've met near here have attacked, why should you expect any different from this "Blue" NPC?
Buffing directly in front of said Blue NPC is just taking the piss and blatant Metagaming. Spotting the NPC, evaluating and preparing somewhere away from said NPC and then advancing on him is probably wise. So, send out your scout (That is such a boring task, 'cos you know what's ahead and where the traps are already) and see what's round the corner, let him come back and advise "There's a bugger in black and red robes ahead of you. He looks like he might be a powerful mage, I think we should prepare for something a little harder than we've had before" and then go ahead and prepare. In this way, you get to prepare legitimately and you add to the RP. The Garagossian Barbarian can say "WTF, we're the Badass Bastards here! We don't need to prepare! CHARGE!" while the disciplined Warrior (not tank so as not to offend Olouth  ) can say, "Ok, priest, give me the Strength of an OX and lets see how tough this Girlie in a dress really is?" Meanwhile, your mage can suggest "I think I shall attempt to counter any spells he may wish to attempt. Give me a moment to think." and your talkative bard then pipes up "Hang on a moment, lets just try talking to him! You never know, we may be able to negociate something! Give me a chance!"

I think the best way to describe why buffing before fighting the big bad guy at the end is bad is because the fight stops for the story, not to give you a break to buff and plan against the same guy you fought yesterday.

Agreed with all the points for #2.
Honestly I think the only action that is really maybe advisable would be chug 1 potion because ICly this is how it would probably play out (Fun Fact: Similar to most movies)
Boss thinks he doesn't need to get involved in the fight, his minions do it for him, is sadly dissapointed. He takes it slow, he gets his guard up and tries to study them to find a weakness. (If everyone starts casting BOOM weakness right there.) The group moves in, still weary from the last battle but intent on finishing the job. They attack.

I don't give a shit if you buff in front of the warehouse boss and leave crap on the floor if you're doing awesome stuff with your character.
