Bounty B*tches

Alright. Well I've always loved the kind of "Gang" Feeling that you can find with certain groups. Without always having that total and mass destruction/pure evil feel to it. But I haven't seen anything like that recently! So I've decided to start my own little group of rag tag gang members. And I'd rather not just be a aimless gang. Working for turfs or money. So I thought, let me try bounty hunters! To tell you the truth I'm not sure how this will turn out. But let me tell you my guesses!
PvP/PvM
- I strongly believe that there will be many cases of player vs. Player. And in most cases. Player vs Monsters.
- now I don't mean to say I'm going to go around aiming to kill other players but sometimes, if the price is right. Death is a serious option. Most of the time I will aim for a strong beating, and mugging. But actions deserve consequences. For the right price.
- This is not a requirement for this faction! There will be plenty of times where we will most likely be working, spying, and just being bad ass. The choice is all yours.
Well that's really all I can think of we will be doing that I feel comfortable talking about publicly. So if you want to know more. Please feel free to hit me up IG. I'm glad to answer any questions in PM or posted here on these forums. My char IG Is Mok'tul. And any characters are allowed except paladins and lawful chars probably.

not be rude..but this honestly just sounds like "Gank and greif squad" to me…but thats just my opinion as that what most gangs of that type devole into

Yes, but there have been some lesser known ones that didn't and that were actually secret enough and smart enough about it that they were actually barely known about. It could work but its one of those things of will it be Roleplay or will it be powerlevel and gank

The thing is. I don't plan on ganking nor griefing. When it comes down into pvp. I will not get Into it unless there is a bounty on the person. Or due to IC happenings, there is conflict between the person and me/us.

If done right this group could create some serious fun for many players on the server.
I'd advise having a chat with a DM or two about how to actually 'run' the muggings/beatings/kidnaps etc.
But so long as you keep your OOC courtesy level up high, most people wont actually gank you right away, and will let the group evolve. Once you kill someone, gank squads will be a serious threat though ,so watch out.
A lot of times the 'gank squads' will only capture you, feeling this is less harsh than killing, but it normally ends up in execution if the crimes can be proven, so bear that in mind.

I suggest finding some support IG from a faction to help fund your group and provide resources. Work IG with faction members and perhaps find ways to work towards goals. You could work secretly for Greencastle, or the Mage Guild as thugs/enforcers/third party. Perhaps look into other PC factions such as Blackwolf Trade to grow your influence. Even if the faction as a whole doesn't support you, likely there is a single member that might. Bottom line is, don't try to build up by yourself! Use other factions.
A very good possibility would be to get some influence in East Way. They are needing someone (anyone!) to start doing things there. Tax the roads, tame the wilds, rough up the town, enforce your own "laws" etc. You'd find East Way to be more open to new ideas than in Arabel I think.

all bounties have to be sanctioned and then letters of marque issued
if your of questionable nature, you wont get the letter and be tossed in jail
since the only two factions who can issue live bounties are the court and the mage guild, having someone elses backign wontn be of any help, as any who recall kalindors exile because of being of noble blood instead of executed
so think twice before engaging in this potential dangerous occupation

Or just do it, have fun, and deal with the concequences when they come.

So I thought, let me try bounty hunters!
I know of two separate players/factions that have been trying to do this in the last week or so and have posted for recruits in the bulletin forum.
And i am sure that there are other ways to get letters of marque or their equivalent if you do decide to go down that route.

Had a character who was in the Scarlet Talons. Basically what you outlined there.
We ganked three brilliant roleplayers and a newbie whilst on a powertrip, with no DM permission or supervision (although there was precedent for a minor beating at best).
Just avoid powertripping and be moderate when doing PvP, and it won't be another ill-fated gank squad.
Simples.

I saw the title of this thread and thought I was going to get to see women in tight shorts cleaning up messes with Bounty Paper Towels. :(

That is my next idea. Thank you.

What you're thinking of here sounds to me like day-to-day activities of a group. You could certainly have one like that, but you need an actual agenda, ambition for the group that takes them beyond just a gang of bounty hunters.
For instance: maybe the central character is not actually after bounty hunting fame, but a Sembian agent who wants to find the best of the best in resourcefulness and cunning under the facade of looking for bounty hunters so that he can convince them to help him break into East Way Castle and kill Cassiel, all the while secretly serving some rival Sembian house to Venieth.
It's very easy to get caught up in PvP, and especially so if you don't have a strong purpose that is not based on attacking other characters mechanically, in my experience. If you can find one though, something like this could be a lot of fun for you.
