A Little Help Please
-
Hi there,
my hard drive decided to go west on Wed' night/thursday morning.
I've got a temporary drive I can use for now and I'm in the process of installing NWN SoU and HotU as I write. It's been so many years since I've touched my NWN folder but I recall it was enormous.
Anyway, the question is this. Can anyone tell me if there's anything I need or really should get before I log back onto Arabel? Any links would be great as well.
Thanks.

You might need the critical rebuild. Which is a large fuile, about 350 mb I think. sometimes you need it to update to 1.69, but the auto updater might work for you. if it doesnt, search for it, sorry I dont have a link.
also, check out the CoA wiki for cleric domain downloads.
Possibly portrait packs. And any overides you wannas use, but those are totally optional.

Yes thanks a lot there.
I just dl'd drivers, got the game running. Went to log on and was prompted for the patch.
The portrait packs was something I had before and wanted again and had forgotten and also the domains.
Hopefully I'll be up and running fairly soon, so thanks once more.

Well this doesn't bode well. When I run the patch it says "I cannot use the patch with my currently installed version of NWN"
All my discs are original with my CD keys stored on Biowares website so it can't be a pirate issue.
I did try to run the critical update before I'd tried the auto updater on the game screen. I then tried the game screen updater which failed (my version is 1.58 currently) and then the critical patch again but it's still telling me I can't patch my game.
Should I have patched before installing the add ons?

It's now 8:06 AM, I started at 12:45 AM odd and after much trouble I have the game running.
My last problem it seems is many of my portraits are missing. As yet everything is pure meaning I've d'l'd nothing but the patch.
When I went into make a new character I noticed many sheets were just white canvasses interspersed with some portraits. This isn't something I've come across before. Does it sound like some corrupt files on install or a patch problem?

Never met with it myself. Normaly the game just checks what's in your portraits folder and uses that. Not sure if its possible to view them, but try, if you notice they are all iffy you will know the cause. If that's not the case, then sadly I have no idea.

It's ok and thanks for the response.
There are no portraits in the portrait folder unless you d'l them. The problem was/is my HotU install. I re-installed over the top and I now have all the portraits bar 3 and I'll try to rectify that another time.
Man, I really shouldn't be let loose near a computer without supervision.
My original patching problem I eventually found out after un-installing and re-installing and much hair pulling was I was trying to patch with a 1.69 NWN patch, not a 1.69 HotU patch.
Doh!
