Noob question about game etiquette
-
Hello, I've just started the server, and it seems fun, but I've encountered some hostility about how i play, and i want to check everyone on what I was doing wrong.
Today I tried to create some conflict between my character and the Knights, of whom my character has a few class issues with. I wrote some tracts on an alternative interpretation (intentionally scandalous) of a DM mission that they went on.
I hoped to cause a little friction, but instead a got a few angry tells about how everyone was pissed off with it.
The question I want to ask is, am I going about creating friction the right way? I was told my actions were ruining other people's fun, and i don't want to do that.

Without knowing the full details from both sides, all I can comment on is that people shouldn't be sending you pissed off angry tells at all. If they do, tell them politely not to contact you in tells like that. If they ignore you, screen shot it and send it to the DMs at cityofarabel@gmail.com as a jpg file.
We do not tolerate players taking IC actions into OOC hostility. That is simply not proper.
Additionally, at least from what you describe, you're doing things right. Trying to stir up conflict by portraying 'heroes' in a less glamorous light because of rivalries is completely legitimate.

As an example, if you can make people view crusaders against an evil lich as being a bunch of thugs trying to destroy an innocent harmless soul, then more power to you.
Just make sure that whatever you say or do, your character knows about IG. Don't use any OOC knowledge and don't spread lies about anyone OOC either. Keep IC and OOC as seperate as possible. I did that once, almost ruined my CoA experience and someone elses. =(

Cool, I'll just keep it up. Thanks for the help, and to the DMs; I'll take note of that for the future.
Looking forward to tussling with the rest of you! IC of course!
