Trojan Horse Hider.OOW

The bastard in the subject line has given me no end of grief lately, as some of you know. It attached itself to my netbt.sys file, so AVG white-listed it. I had to go into the registry and go into unknown territory for me (remember, low INT when it comes to computers) just to locate it. Now it seems to have damaged that file, and I'm currently waiting on my recovery discs to be sent to me.
I should also mention that a System Restore LIKELY would have fixed this had my machine been set to automatically create restore points like it should have.
So, yeah. This is why I'm not IG. For the record, I run 32-bit XP SP3.

If I was a virus, I'd delete system restore points.
:)

A full format and restore will work. I had to do this to my PC a few weeks ago when I got a virus that hosed the kernel32 files and registry. Took me a few hours to get back and running. I expect the same from you.

Was hoping to avoid it, but looks like I'll have to. Good thing I keep a copy of NWN handy at all times.
