Cryptic's Neverwinter
-
I've been all over their Facebook and Twitter with other people mostly from the NWN1 community contiunually reminding Cryptic they need to provide PW capability for this game. So far each interview Jack Emmert (COO of Cryptic) has done has gotten them leaning more and more to them referencing us being able to host "the ability to create your own campaign world on its own virtual server."
I really think the more noise that's made on their Facebook (and whenever their forums are launched) the greater the chance the PW concept can live in this game. And we all know we could use a new game for this. We sorta need a new game for this. NWN2 was a disaster.
-
I agree…
However I don't believe you use facebook.
-
okay.. the single player was solid and good…the multi player was a disaster. what sort of noise here? I mean they'll do whatever they please anyways look at microsoft!!. But hey if they can make NWN 3 more like this then good on em!

This is in your future, mark my words.

It's likely not going to happen in the form we'd like to. Players will be able to create quests, but not entire PWs.

And the game will bomb and cost them more to create than they earn in profit. Their own stupid ass fault. No "normal" people like Neverwinter Nights, therefore they should listen to us abnormalities.

And given the fact Cryptic totally messed up STO I don't have my hopes up for this title. However, we shall see as time goes on

I don't really agree there, Mith. They did alright with Champions Online. I'm not saying it doesn't have problems, cause it does, but it's getting better and is a pretty fun game.
-
This is going to suck, taken in comparison to Neverwinter Nights. Taken on it's own it might not be half bad, though.

I have a lifetime sub, so I'm rooting for it. I like the cell shading and I love the way they did power acquisition.
Their micropayment Cryptic Points system is, frankly, tawdry. The way they were going to originally release content updates w/ point costs was super ridiculous.
The game has been super buggy - it did a ridiculous amount of rendering in CPU rather than GPU, which meant a lot of people needing to upgrade to get the performance they wanted, even though it does not have great graphics.
The city is big, but it doesn't feel alive at all - just enemies all over the place. It's like - where the hell are all the police? Heroes aside, if there were super powered villains in groups on EVERY STREET CORNER…
Voice acting is possibly the worst since the Lord British voice in Ultima VII. ("Though it painsssh me, Avatar, I musht shend theeeeee to the Serpent Isle...")
The crafting system is pretty damn bad. (The buff you get from actually gathering from a node though is amazing... not sure if that's good though.)
Lots of very glitchy missions. Especially anything and everything related to Nemesis, when I tried that. The "Where do I get a mission now?" crime computer thing was a nice idea, but honestly, it's pretty bad at finding you a "good" person. And for the love of God, I want a "call" button.
Team finding was absolutely horrible. The auction house interface was beyond horrible.
I like the block mechanic, but I don't like energy builders. The power color customization is horrible. (Try to make something red, end up with hot pink. City of Heroes did this in a MUCH better way.)
OTOH, I don't think I've played more than once in 6 months, so maybe it has improved on some of these scores.

I don't see how this facebook idiot can defend this soon to be shitty game.

I never understood the hate for NWN2. i rather enjoyed it and would have stayed in Tales of Moonsea if it was more active. FUn singleplayer and 3.5 rules
