ATI R5770 vs 9800GTX
-
So with my computer problems I need to replace my card which was the 9800 GTX, and the computer guy suggested the ATI R5770 saying it was better than the 9800GTX. I've looked at some reviews and it seems the 5770 is better. Although the 9800 GTX has a better Texture Fill Rate
So, if anyone is familair with these two cards, which is better? Computer guy lying or not?

As a rule of thumb, salespeople advise customers to buy the products for which their management has set the best bonus.

They are pretty similar in terms of performance, the 5770 probably pulls ahead in most games. The 5770 is also newer, and it supports directx 11, whilst the other doesn't. Though that's not much of an issue right now, it might be a little down the line. It uses less power than the 9800gtx too, so that's cool. Definitely go for the 5770 if they are around the same price, maybe even pay a little bit more for it.

Its much less than the 9800GTX was when I bought it and still is. Think I will go for it then, these computer guys don't have boss's and they have done a good job so far.
Would it matter if its MSI or such? I never got why there are different brand names for same cards >_>

The different brands have different cooling ideas and some might overclock the cards from the stock ATI ones. Doesn't really matter, but you should do your research first to make sure all MSI's ones aren't frying or something like that. Some might have a bundled game too, but it will be a code to download it, and I think you've got some major bandwidth caps, right? <_<

South africa came out with many uncapped deals recently, although while Im still on a slow line I do have uncapped interwebs now thankfully. Hopefully a better line soon, they said they would upgrade for free before the soccer >.>

MSI is pretty legit. Most of my ATI cards have been MSI with no problems, and my little netbook is an MSI and it rocks. And yes, ATI is much less expensive while offering as much power as nVidia. Sometimes their driver support is crap, though. All in all, ATI is your best bang for your buck.
