Guildwars

I recently picked up Guildwars, the "RPG" we've all seen chilling in the $18 bin… and it sucks
I spent roughly half an hour playing it before i thought "screw this" and logged on CoA
I'd say its NWN's Autistic cousin.. except it's not even that good
Have any of you guys played it? what did you think of it?
-
I rather liked it. However, I wouldn't define it as an RPG at all. It's an Adventure/Action game.
-
bought it when it was first released, played for 15 minutes, never logged on again.
-
Necromancers look cool, in an emo kind of way.
-
I waisted fifty bucks on it when it came out. I -forced- myself to play it for almost a week. I haven't touched it since then due to its epic boredom factor.
-
My favorite part of the game was drawing rude imagery on the battle-map. Definately worth the 50 bucks.

Neither would I… exept that's how they define it on the box.. i really couldnt get past the multiclassing system... i wanted to stay as a freaking monk! is that too much to ask? apparently yes

It kind of my pet peeve with most so called online rpgs in honesty. They have all this rich background history, but once in game everything gets treated so OOCly that it prety much wallpaper.
If I kill a a dragon after a 3 hour battle, I like it it to stay dead and be remembered as a dragon slayer. If I animate corpses, I don't expect mister sir bob chapion of light to enjoy my company.
Its like meh.

Its fun as something to play for a quick 15 minutes but it definitaly does not have the layer of depth CoA has. However, that being said I am anticipating the sequel as they have added a persistent factor to the world plus playable races.
-
To all of those who didn't play more then 15 minutes of it, you can hardly judge a game with only 15 minutes of gameplay. Hardly.
-
Or can you?
(I'm looking at you Star Wars Galaxies!)
In my humble opinion, the only quote unquote "good" MMORPG is World of Warcraft. Tear off my head and shit down my neck for bringing up such a game in the hallowed halls of CoA but its the only MMORPG I've found myself actually wanting to play BY MYSELF.
So whos up to play Age of Conan, Hyborian Adventures?
-
Guild Wars isn't a bad game, its just that you uber nubs were playing the wrong way.
Being able to escape newbs and play in your own persistent world was a great twist to counter dealing with idots in most MMO's. And it allowed you and your friends to go on your adventures HOW and WHEN you wanted to without interruption.
But the game wasn't about that, its PvP or "Guild Warring" was pretty solid for its time thanks to the level 20 levul cap (read less grinding) and pretty balance character classes. Plus, the game was free to play online.
I played it for about a month then qwit.

No, but i'm up for tearing off your head and shitting down your neck.

I loved Guild Wars but found myself burning out pretty quickly by the time I was 20. It's a great game to go back to every few years or so and relive nostalgic moments.
Diablo 2 still > all, though.
-
I've played Guild Wars for nearly 2 years and it gets bored after a month. There is no roleplaying, the is straigth forward and you can't choose many options on how you do things. It's the same as WoW, where everyone just hunts for the biggest, darkest and most expensive items and useless stuff.
Don't try playing GW at home.
Seriously, don't.

I say 15 minutes for any game Ive played and didn't like.
Example: Bards tale- played for 15 minutes… (and beat the game two or three times)
-
Its one of those games that is -much- funner to play with other people then it is alone. I might be persuaded to play it on occasion if there were more people running about

He plays the tit-less version of Evony online. Nuff said.
