Massive player account problems
-
I'm hoping the community can help me with this one, because I'm stumped.
My player account crashes the game all the time, and I have no idea why.
I'm running the game on Vista, 3 core PC which I bought last year at some point. The game logs on and runs, but will crash at random, totally freezing up with no warning.
I can't find anything that's causing it at all. I change from the keyboard to the mouse, I've turned the sound off, the graphics down to the bare minimum, shiny water is turned off.
I'm really, really hoping someone can help because at the moment I'm going to have to stop playing :(

There are some issues with AVG and NWN.
It could perhaps be a conflict with your fire wall or Anti Virus. Have you tried shutting them down and playing?
I had to switch to Comodo to solve my AVG crashing problem.

My player account crashes the game
Can you clarify what this means? Does using different accounts prevent you from crashing?
Try updating your video card drivers.
Did those crashes start when you changed something on your PC?(no, i dont have vista knowledge, but this may help. I'm running windows XP and AVG and NWN just fine)

Update video card drivers
Turn off shiny water inside nwn
Change audio to 2.0 (stereo) -

I was wondering why I kept seeing this:
Crowley_CoA has logged in.
[Five seconds later.]
Crowley_CoA has logged out.
[Five seconds later.]
Crowley_CoA has logged in.
[Ten seconds later this time.]
Crowley_CoA has logged out. -
I ran the game just fine on Windows Vista.
If you've never reformatted and fully updated your drivers after reformat, now's the time. If it's an account problem, try making a new account. If it's not that, try throwing your computer out a 5 story window.

I found that setting nwn to work on 1 core solved most of my problems, ive been running it on vista without any problems for years now.

I'm playing the game with the vista opperating system. I had to make sure the game was only using one processor though. I also had to disable the physX acceleration and sli on my nvidia control panel. NwN only uses one of the vid cards on my laptop. If I try to use them both it crashes hard. I'm running the came in compatability mode for windows XP service pack 2. Seems to work ok for the most part.

I've updated my video drivers which seems to have done the trick I think.
How do I get the game to run on ''one core'' as has been mentioned in this thread?

How do I get the game to run on ''one core'' as has been mentioned in this thread?
- Make sure Neverwinter Nights is not loaded/is off.
- Browse to the folder where where nwmain.exe is located, usually C:/NeverwinterNights/NWN/ or something.
- Open the file nwnplayer.ini using Notepad.
- Look for "Client CPU Affinity" under the [Game Options] header. If the option isn't there, add it yourself under the [Game Options] header.
- Change it from
Client CPU Affinity=-1
to
Client CPU Affinity=0 - Save.
- Profit.
