Sorry for the Discord rage, I am angry and here's why
-
I do want to apologize for the rage and I do want to explain now that I am cooler and calmer
if the "other team" had acquired it before I could get to it I would have been fine, I was given no warning it was an open world item for anyone to obtain. I mean put yourself in my shoe for a just a moment.
here I am planning to do something brave and bold and hopefully fun for everyone, you start asking around for players that have an interest. Starting making a time and date we could all go out and do this.
Before you can even get that done it's gone and gotten before I feel I have a fair shot to even try.
Now had I had a warning the item is in play or that the clock is ticking I would have been find. They are the better explorers and team for finding it.
But because I didn't have warning the item was up for grabs and that someone got it before the idea was 15 hours old I was mad.
Because I was putting effort and thought into this, something I'd never really tried in CoA and before I can even get the idea off the ground it's gone.
how you feel? how would anyone feel?.
Yes I admit I was mad,yes I admit I acted childishly. I wasn't in a rational mind.
now if I offended anyone I am sorry but that is just how it felt, that may not be the intention but that's how it truely felt. Like I had come up with something and before I could do anything with it...it's gone.
so hopefully that explains my anger in cooler better described words, I do hope you accept my apologies and understand it's how I felt regardless of intentions. I am not blaming anyone it's just how I felt at the time and I just felt the need to apologize for my conduct and try to get how I felt out in words.
I might login later, I just hope this was insightful, I am not attacking any party here it's just how I feel that went.

Maybe try validating information you receive in game before assuming it's OOCly true.

We have had two faction bases annihilated in two days when the other group were logged off. Timezones mean we have to make do. Things are tense.
Next time something like this happens, say to a DM "right, are we still on for an event on Thursday?", or maybe think up a new plan. I would say this about the DMs, they are quite good at coming up with stuff at the last minute, but the more time you give them, the more PCs you have as allies, the better and more fun they will bring.
You should find allies IG. If only someone stuck up a list of other people being targetted by your enemies you could scheme and plot with, and if only there was a nearly infinite number of NPCs, including the head of your church and even the King of Cormyr (a Lord was cut down in the streets and dragged off to god knows where) that is likely monitoring the situation. A great many people, NPCs and PCs, likely want your enemies thwarted in some way, and would likely reward people who behave in a heroic ways and could offer all kinds of support.

Something that sounds similar once happened to me, however, it turned out the people on "The other team" were bluffing. They hadn't got the item, and just... said they did, to put me off bothering to find it. Clever move really.
It was amazingly funny (after a while)
Don't assume anything! trust no one! :)

During the druid elemental staff plot some years ago, there were plot relics that I hunted for weeks that were taken by the other team, timezones and all, and it was frustrating, yep.
Through PvP, negotiation, paying other PCs, betrayal etc, I managed to get some back but not all. The other team was very gracious in making a fun story out of it and it created a neat drama for everyone to partake in.
Just roll with it, and spin a good story from this, and involve people obv. You may not get a "win" for you personally, but the server gets a huge benefit ;)

I seriously have a great idea for your characters revenge... but you have to get ig to get it.
Trust me. You will love it! -

This is rather awkward >.>

From someone who loved venting rages on irc and discord, I can safely say that it often happens, when you put too much focus and emotion into your character, rather than focusing and placing your emotions into the overall story.
It is iffing hard sometimes, especially if it is OOC stuff like timezones that gets mixed into it all.
But if you can find the courage to take a step back, you will realize that it the beauty of CoA, is that you are not the only narrator to the story.
I hated MrGeek a bit for stealing what I believed would be my 15 minutes of fame, when he grabbed a piece of loot that I felt I had worked hard to earn. But instead of my character "merely getting a cool sword", the situation turned into a vastly more awesome storyline, touching many characters and became a defining aspect of MrGeeks character. He took it to a whole new, epic level, and told a much better story that the sword in my chatacters hands ever would.
Roll with the punches my man. Stop worrying about winning, and focus on the story itself, even if the story turns into something you had not imagined when you started.

Stories without conflict are boring stories.
