Barricades
-
Okay so..apperently you can buy barricades now. I'm assuming you just use them once you buy them and it places a barricade where you designate. Does anyone know if you can take down the barricade once it is placed?
-
Try using a greataxe?
-
You can't re-pack then back up, if that's what you mean.
Once they're down they're down. And the way to get rid of them is to smash them appart.
-
Darn. I don't suppose it is possible to create a version that you can unpack and re-pack that costs a bit extra is there? =D
-
As it is, these are terribly exploitable and I think they need to be removed.
-
Do you mean on quests Mr. Moloch?
At 50.5 lbs each, I don't think there's going to be too many of them being dragged around at any one time. And if they're one shot, are they going to make a huge amount of difference to the outcome of any encounter? Unless they're supremely tough to smash.
-
When I suggested the item, I suggested a note on it, like fighter only items, forbidding it's use on scripted quests. Outside of scripted quests, where is the possible abuse?
I also think making them VERY heavy is a good idea, like 150 stone.
-
Exploits with stuff like this are extremely easy, even off scripted quests.
-
I think I see where you're going with this Mr. Moloch. Because we all know how limited the NWN AI is.
But if the AI was going to be exploited (in this way because I'm sure it happens in other ways) a campfire would do the same thing.

Except someone using a campfire to do that is obvious and should be reported by players and if seen by a DM get immediate consequence.
A barricade, is meant to block things, and a argument could be made for not having ones character deleted.
and 50 pounds is FAR too light. You could stick several in certain bags, and very strong characters could carry several, even without weight reduction.
make them a base object of a container, with weight of 100 and they might be acceptable.
-
That's not light… That's the weight of a full plate. I don't know what you think the weight limit is for most characters on CoA, but I'm guessing it's something around 120. And... using a barricade to abuse AI is just as bad as using a campfire, I'd say.
-
The DM team is discussing ideas around this stuff right now, so we'll try to figure things out but let us know if you have ideas that can help solve the problems without too many more problems being made.
-
Make them 150lbs and only be able to carry around one at a time.
-
Is there a set up time for these things? A few rounds of your character actually setting up the barricade.
-
[[Do not use this item on any scripted quest. This item is a series of bolts, spikes and wooden shafts and is not assembled. It will take time to assemble it. Do not attempt to assemble it in circumstances which are logically impossible, such as when you are involved in combat.]]
-
The best way I think to keep these fair is keep them as they are now, but like stated before, make sure they can't be used on scripted quest. Player's should be made well aware of this and any reports of such should be reported. Atleast in DM events and such, the monsters can actually attack the barricades.
-
In DM events, DMs can only make the NPCs attack the barricades when we possess the NPCs to specifically do so. So put up a barricade to stop 100 attacking goblins and only one will try to knock it down.
-
i have seen on other servers that the barricades there are treated as hostile automatically by party enemies.
Is it possible to give the barricade item a faction to enable targetting?
creating an immobile summon via an item with the barricade image maybe, so that it is automatically added to party. It will need some common sense from players though so that it doesnt follow through transitions etc!
-
I'm wondering, why was this implented? They seem like more trouble to enforce than they're worth. The server isn't balanced for it. The problem isn't using it on quests. It's exploiting AI, really. Making barricades hostile to enemy NPCs should fix this though!

Make it so they take a few rounds to make, and if possible if your attacked while making it, make it so its either destroyed or you have to recommence to set it up
