Unbuntu Help

Right, I know there are plenty of Windows users here, but I have already tried to reinstall Windows and run the game.. the crashes there are tons worse (constant BSODs and such) so I am back to Ubuntu.
If you have been logged in, I am sure you have seen me crashing like it was a hobby.
If there is anyone that can give me help, I have multiple strace logs if you wish for some of the crashes. Just let me know what info you need and I will do my best to provide the answers.
I would really love to play more, but my crashes have gotten so bad my game is unplayable.

Just to help out a bit, a good majority of my crashes print out "Segmentation Fault" in the terminal window.
I have already followed all the "Read before posting Tech Problems" forum in the (closed) Bioware NWN Linux forum.
I have swapped between 64bit Ubuntu and 32Bit Ubnuntu.. without any real difference.
I have removed the Lib folder completely to force NWN to use the system Binaries.
And every once in a while It completely forces a reboot due to locking the system up.

My nwn works fine, but I'm on a 32-bit Linux on a rather older CPU. If you have 64-bit, I suppose your CPU is of the high-end sort, and likely multicore, in which case this post may be of help.

I have 32-bit Installed and having these problems.
I am going to try to install it via Wine and see if that helps… downloading the critical rebuild files for windows as I type this.
Hopefully this stops the crashes or gets them to a manageable level

I'm using the Linux native build, after copying the data files from the windows install. Do you use NWN windowed or fullscreen? I know I have problems if I use it windowed.
-
I've tried it Windowed and Fullscreen, makes no difference.
I am 99% sure this is all tied to some crappy propriety Nvidia Drivers for my 8500 GT card. -
If such is the case, then maybe other 3D software will have the same sort of trouble. Have you tried the linux 3D games, like sauerbraten?
-
I've tried playing Wizard 101, and it has similar problems.

What about non-graphical, memory intensive programs? perhaps you just have some bad memory in your machine that normally doesn't get exercised? Try running a memory testing program to at least exclude that?

Memtest64 100% pass with no errors.
