Auctions and Sales
-
When responding to auctions and sales on the forums, is it best practice to reply to the Auctions forum posts directly (i.e. Hello, I am interested in your magic ring, let's meet at so and so…), or through an IC forum letter? Outside of finding the characters IG, of course.

Keep it all on the auctions stuff. As a DM, I like to read all the IC and Bulletin posts and so on just to keep up with stuff that is happening in game that I don't see.
I don't want to hear that your potion order is ready or you will pay 10 gold for a used sock. So if its all on that forum, I know to ignore those posts.
It really helps me if players do that, and probably many other DMs who find keeping up with all the forums tough.

Yes, just send a letter in a new topic in that forum

I am bumping this for three reasons:
**1. Players - Do you want reply posts to your auction listings or PMs? I get in trouble for replying, even though that is the point of the forum…
2. Please list more details on certain special or unique items for sale such as AC, type of armor/weapon, alignment/class restrictions etc.
3. If you are selling wands, please list Divine or Arcane type.**
Makes it easier to shop and not have to PM questions to the seller.

I prefer replies directly in the thread. One auction, one thread. It gets frustrating when twelve different players want to cut private deals through PMs.

I second this. However, in the case of sales (and not auctions) then I prefer it to be carried out IG. A PM for reserving an item or showing interest is fine as sales posters are often updated as things are sold/added.
