New Forum Issues

With the demise of the Player Plot Posts it would be nice to have something similar here, perhaps some setup via the chat system? Anyone more familiar with this forum setup. Looking for a way for Players to have a private conversation to the DM Team ala the old PPP system.
-
Me and SithSpawn are looking into Plugin options for tickets
-
@toportime The chat function is awesome. You can invite the dms into one chat.
-
Lost:
- Plot ticket and everything I had in there... (which was a lot... I had all my notes in there that I did not think to keep on my computer since well, didn't expect the whole forum would change... if there is a change to get those back, there is one post I really need for my current character. The ticket were useful to keep my notes there because when I was at work or at my mom's, I could access my notes easily to edit them and not have to wait to be home to do that)
- PMs (don't think I had anything important there but anyone who sent me something recently, sorry, lost it.) Chat seems interesting but can you keep conversations? Send large texts?
Would be nice to have:
- categories that changes color when we read everything in there. Guess I'll need to get used to the unread section until then.
- ability to center text (if there is one, I can't find it!)
- Mouse over info for the various icons when you post. Most are pretty straight-forward but didnt know what the poll icon was until I clicked on it
- Text sizes and colors
Probably will think of something elese as I use these new forums.
Question out of curiosity: why was the forum changed entirely? Security issues? Old ones just too old? -
@toportime Hubby is working on a way for this to happen. Give us a couple days. In the meantime, if there's anyone who absolutely needs their plot tickets "IMMEDIATELY!!" I can try to copy/paste them in a document for you at some point in the next day or two.
@AronFF We should have the override and TLK files fixed now.
-
I would love it so that I go to the NEW post when I click on a thread telling me there has been an update or reply, scrolling is a pain -_-
-
Click the far right of the thread highlighted as new, the arrow, and it'll take you to the last post.
-
@Puffy when you open a thread that you have read previously and new posts have been added, there's a popup that will take you to your last read entry if you click it.
-
Whenever you enter a thread, at the top right of your screen there are arrows and numbers representing which post out of how many post in the thread you're looking at
" 28 out of 28 " and somesuch. You can skip to the last post in the thread by hitting the button to the far right of that, in the shape of two downward pointing arrows.

We needed new forums because the old phbb was so far outdated it couldnt be installed "as is" on the new server. It was also so outdated it could not be upgraded to the newest version for installation either, without losing most everything. Thus, new, modern, up to date forums, with Hubby on standby to migrate/update/troubleshoot.

thank you for the information.
And thank you for all the hard work. -
Have you guys with faction or dm forums, experienced loss of posts as well? I cannot get to the old forum, so I cannot check, but I seem to be missing posts.
If it is just the Crown Forces Forum, then it is likely just me who cannot find them.
-
I believe any posts older than 5 years ago were removed.

DM area has posts over 14 years old
-
I think the old faction pages which were moved to hidden area have been removed. We need those for record keeping. We really need those migrated over else we could lose vital lore and information
-
Any topic than 7 years old, unless it was a pinned topic, was not migrated. Any posts on pinned posts were kept, also.
Also, anything in the old Archive section was dropped.
That being said.. An archival copy of the original forums will be made available in a read-only sandbox "soon".

There is a ton of stuff in there that is needed especially in various DM forums

I have noticed that when you are in a thread you can mark it "unread" easily, but why can I not mark entire forums as read rather than feeling like the system is forcing me to click on absolutely every single post to clear out the "posts unread counter" at the top that makes the counter a useless tool
Have you tried this since the upgrade to v1.5.1? If you click on the unread box at the top, on that page there's a "mark as read" towards the right where you can mark a whole category unread at once. Admittedly it would be nice if that drop-down supported multi-select, but you can blast individual categories as "read" rather than doing it post by post.
-
@Hubby I have since found a fast route to mark all posts read or by subforum using the "Unread" icon up top.
