PvP and consequences
-
I'm not really sure how to say what I feel, but after the events of today, I think something really cool had a premature ending. The results of which could have been a complete 180 difference if the event began with RP over popping potions and surprise attacking.
What's done is done, but please, PLEASE for anyone who reads this, it is paramount that you understand the consequences of beginning character interactions with PvP. PvP should be held onto as a last means, as it ends cool plotlines quickly, and many times without any character interaction or build up. Many people were left dissapointed with the death of several plot-pushing PCs today.
I'm in no position to tell a DM how to do their job either, but I think things would be a lot better if DMs arbitrated events and occurrences based on plots and fun, rather than just "keeping the peace and watching what happens." To be blunt, if there is a situation between two people, and one or even both of them are currently doing cool things, pushing plots, entertaining other people on the server? You should really step in and stop them from ending each other's stories without a good cause.

I agree with you, but there's not much that can be done about that.
-
I think we can fix it. We need to police ourselves. PvP was the number one thing people didn't care about on the poll about the Server, and this is part of the reason why.
-
I agree that yes surprise attacks like from invis and with no build up is not cool but i think pvp is great if the proper build up is done and consideration from both parties is done. i think that dm's shouldn't step in when someone who is doing cool things/plots is about to die because that just eliminates the risk/rewards factor but thats just my opinion. I do agree pvp can be messy at times.

I think if you are genuine about your intentions you shouldn't make mention of a specific situation in which you personally sabotaged any incentive, motivation or possibility of RP.
IC all you had to do: "I am actually a… spoiler. Here's proof."
You didn't do or say anything because you were fully OOC. So yes please police yourself before anyone else.
I didn't say anything IC because I got subdued/knocked out/FD by aggro NPCs. Also, why would I reveal myself to random people that I didn't know were also spoilers? I spent plenty of time talking OOC. So yes, I did police myself tyvm. But personal jabs aside, OP still stands. Nearly the exact same thing happened on EfU, which is why I've left that server for good. I'd hate the same to happen on CoA. Having an intriguing story be cut off because of a PvP, most of the time done with other PC's that I hardly know, let alone have even spoken to much before, with little to no build up or interaction, is nothing short of asinine.

I'm not sure if we're reading the same original post, but I was kind enough not to drop any names to avoid shaming anyone. As you said, only those involved would know. The fact that you're so quick to jump on and defend yourself just shows proof of your feeling of guilt. That said, if you want to make this personal I am more than glad to oblige, though I believe the DMs will frown upon such actions. ^.^

Cut it out.

I'm not feeling guilt, nor making it personal. I don't know you. I only voiced I don't appreciate the post relating to a situation instead of a general discussion.
But I will edit out my reply's and just avoid you in the future. (w/o influencing IC ofc)
