GoFundMe Campaign for new NPO
-
Hey guys…
I'm working on getting a GoFundMe campaign setup to cover the initial startup costs of a new NPO I intend to found/run.
The general idea is to combat the homeless problem by buying/renovating homes in local communities undergoing revitalization movements, and then placing homeless people in those homes. The organization will them completely support them in that new home.. power, water, food, etc... and help them work with other organizations that specialize in counseling, job/skill training, etc... Once they have a job, give them a few months to save up a decent emergency savings account, then sell them the house on a rent-to-own program where 100% of their funds go into escrow towards the purchase. Priority will be given to veterans in every way possible.
So, I am working on the writeup for this Go Fund Me, and wanted input/comments/etc from the community here before finalizing it.
This will be the campaigns video.
Below is what I will be posting as my GoFundMe Description
Hello! My name is James Wright, and I'm a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom here in Birmingham, AL. I am raising this money to cover the startup costs for the founding of a new Non-profit Organization here in Birmingham, tentativly named Operation Homebuilder.
The mission statement/goal of the organization will be: "To end veteran homelessness, and homelessness as a whole, by providing homes, not housing, to those in need."
We will approach the problem of homelessness in a different way than most. We will integrate our efforts with revitilization movements in our local communities by purchasing and renovating homes in areas with revitilization efforts and placing those we help permanently in those homes. The intent is to put heavy focus into providing permanent solutions for a small number of people, and not temporary solutions for large numbers.

For funding, the goal is to involve the community at large, through grass roots funding. Small recurring donations, from thousands of people in the local communities. In the spirit of this, I am looking for $5,000 from GoFundMe to fund the startup costs. This includes initial purchasing of domain, for email/website, incorporation fees, IRS filing fees, attorny consultations/fees, etc..
