How much would you pay per item for storage?
-
Simple question.
If it was possible to rent persistant storage for items in the game, how much do you personally think is reasonable enough to make you use the system, per item, per week?
Discuss.
-
Depends on the item really, I'd calculate by weight.
For things like a fullplate or tower shield, up to maybe 300 a week.
For tiny things, maybe like 10. -
A lot. Getting annoyed by encumbrance is the #1 reason I log off these days, other than RL obligations obviously.
-
I'd rather just rent a locker somewhere for a set amount per week. Maybe 5-10 item limit at 500 a week.
I know database size grows with every player that buys a locker, but it'd be self regulating as rentals lapse and stuff.
I know 'perks' are 'supposed' to be hard to get, but this kind of thing really is basic quality of life stuff and shouldn't /absolutely/ require detrimental downsides like high cost per item.
-
As a non-crafter/miner/merchant , I would see primary use for having ability to own different armors and/or weapons so you can take either the scout or tank gear. 200/item, because I'd expect to want to store maybe 2-3.
-
I'd pay 200 per week for 5-10 storage box. That being said its still expensive.

25 gold per slot per week, a ten slot storage should go for 250 gold a week, a 50 slot storage should go for 1250 a week. A week goes by very fast and 10 slots isn't all that much, this'd be 1000 gold a month or 5000 gold a month, which is affordable but not laughable either.
If there were an item bank script where you just give someone your stuff and get a token/voucher you can use to get back your stuff or make another deposit, but have to pay the rent based on how many things you stored, that'd be neat as hell.

Give factions more storage space and let the PCs rent them out and decide. :D

@Swifty:

Problem with that is sometimes you can't find a member for days.
Or, due to whatever events, the faction member gets into a squabble with faction and everything is stolen ("confiscated"). -
What might be a cool function for something like this would be if you let your rental run out the items get added to an NPC store to be sold at low prices.
100gp per slot sounds like a pretty good amount, though.

Have a set of ten chests rented out by various factions Some chests in the Spire, some in the Fine Hells, some in Shylock's, etc. You can buy a key to one, and pay weekly rent say 700gp for 7 days. You can store 10-15 items inside. At any time you can top it back up to 7 days. If 7 days pass without you topping up, the chest unlocks, the inventory is available to anyone, and the chest can be rented out.
-
Just asking for how much you'd pay really, the method of payment, who the gold goes to, etc, isn't massively interesting to me.
Though there's some cool ideas in here.

Peoples lives revolve around coa? and never have OOC issues to prevent login? Maybe at 40 days.

Nothing
My character would be broke in short order

Dont worry about chests running out due to inactivity, or losing your items because you were out of game for a while. Got those problems sorted.
Just trying to see what people think is reasonable, so it gets used, but does actually cost something.

the answer is very subjective!
currently I don't have big things to store and easy access to bulls strength so wouldn't use one much.
other characters lived encumbered with several sets of armour and barely managed to walk through quests even with bulls, they would have paid for stuff, but any cost for it would end up being added to the price of the merchandise they were selling. so the issue there would be how much inflation in prices can the market stand? currently with the huge amount of stuff thrown in the charity chest there is virtually no selling of quest loot as far as I can see so making that more expensive ends up removing merchants as I see it.that said I would be happy to pay for a storage chest with a nominal amount of items 1/2/5/10 with a price tag of 100/200/350/600 a week or so. being able to pick the size of chest means you can accommodate your needs and potentially hire as a faction too to reduce costs - though I don't know if this is supposed to replace faction storage?
would the plan also be to reduce the amount of storage in places like the lab/factory/old town house too? or just to make those cost to use?

I like this idea.

I would like to see different size chests for your needs. I'd say 100 gold per item initially , 10, 15, and 20 item chests available, then half the amount annually. If pcs can craft/rent chests out, I guess you could set the prices to rent or even sell permanently. I don't know how many different skins of chests there are, but if there is enough, that in itself could be a small business for pc crafters. Using different irons you could make chests of various sizes and looks if your character so desires to have that demonic looking chest.
-
Probably 5-10 gold per item, the lower the price the more you incentivize its use.
-
weight and slot based, 200 coins for 8 slots, 200 coins per 25 LBs, charged twice a month.
