Patreon Hacked
-
Some of you may already be aware of this, but Patreon was hacked, rather extensively, a few days past.
Those of you who are patrons of CoA's, or any other project hosted there would do well to change all relevant passwords asap.
Ars has posted quite thoroughly about the breach:
-
That's a pretty massive hack. Would be interesting to find out exactly how that one was done. Seems like an inside job/social engineering really, considering the sheer quantity of data.
-
From what I've heard, it was in the back end because the payment handling system was an outdated cloud based service.

I've a patreon thing and haven't noticed any problems yet, but it's something to be wary of.

Woah…. didn't know that I better watch my account
-
thanks for the heads-up. password changed.

Thanks, password changed.

Patreon hasn't contacted any of you, or its user-base directly?
That's rather irresponsible of them to say the least, if true. -
They contacted me. Some people probably gave them some fake e-mail account.
-
They contacted me before the OP was put here. Have been keeping an eye on my account activity, nothing strange yet.
-
They contacted me, but I hadn't checked my email in weeks. Saw this thread first.

My credit card information got hacked and I've been dealing with some fraudulent charges. I cannot confirm it was from Patreon, however, it might be a good idea for all of you to watch your accounts closely.
