Windows 10
-
Ran an upgrade of my Windows 7 PC to Windows 10 and can happily announce - NWN runs, CoA runs! Upgrade itself went without a glitch and I played last night through a whole quest without any issues at all. Forum also work without issues in Edger Browser.
-
I can concur. Same experience, upgrading from 8.1 to 10. NWN kept chugging along.
-
Went from 7 to 10. Ton of lag since, but game does not crash.
-
You mean low frame rate, not lag. Important distinction.
-
Sounds like either a graphics card issue, or an issue with CPU coring. The former can be fixed with adjusting drivers, the latter a simple switch in the config files for NWN.
NWN shouldn't be running less than 60 FPS with modern technology.

Windows 7 for me for the next 10 years. I ain't changing what works!

Strictly speaking you guys are right. Lag is network, frame rate is PC, but the symptoms did not seem like frame rate to me. So even though it was a PC change, it seems to cause a network issue. But I am probably wrong to call it lag.
Symptom wise I am getting things like when you move, then run back, then run to the destination. Where you turn, but your character snaps back to his original facing. Where people having conversations go silent, then ten talks all flash by at once. Fluid motion.. but all wrong.
My CPU and GPU are running normal(at least as well as they ever did). FPS is 75, but I tried 60 just to be safe. But since the upgrade, my bandwidth falls from 20MB/s to 3 every 10 minutes or so. All the other devices(apple/win 8/raspbian*) stay around 20 down to 17 with only traffic seeming to make changes. When everything is off but the PC, still gets the issue. Game play when I run it offline is fine. When not connected to the game, it acts like the rest of the machines. Fairly consistent speeds. *raspberry pi is always slower since it is on wifi but it is a consistent slower. I have a built in Network adaptor, but the drivers for my board seem to be fine. They are the latest at least and say they are for win 10.

Huh. Weird then. Sorry for assuming, it's just that nine times out of ten people tend to mix them up.
-
I am not convinced I didn't. ?? just don't have a better name for it. Or wait, I got it…..LPS. "L " from lag " ame" from frame so it is just "lame".
-
Upgraded to 10 this morning, and NWN has crashed 9 out of the 10 times I've tried to run it. Hoping #10 is the winner but if not, I'll be on the prowl for a fix.

This one is for Orin1234, apparently there's a default setting in Windows 10 that makes it so people download updates from you when they update. Shouldn't have a noticeable effect, it might since it's effectively leeching your bandwith. Try disabling that.

So Microsoft invented torrent, right?
-
I'm avoiding it for a while to be honest because of likely bug issues and worries over security. Through on another note, I think the advert with the kids in it rather amusing…. were suppose to believe that Windows 10 will still be the OS of choice when there adults....

I've been told that only applies to private trackers, and even then 98% of piracy takes place on public ones like PirateBay, etc. It basically affects nobody except people who think they're elite (and really private trackers are just people who upload Usenet stuff after it hits Usenet).

Make sure you remove your old installation of Windows after you upgrade.

It was about 32GB for me.
