Quick Fix Attempt:
-
Turn off your laptop and remove the battery.
-
Now press and hold the power button for 10 to 15 sec.
-
Then start you'r laptop by connecting to charger without battery.
-
Test the key board and reinstall the battery.

Still not working? Let me ask a few questions.
Are the keys randomly all over the keyboard, or concentrated in a certain area?
For example, are they in a row, Tab, Capslock, Shift, Ctrl, down the left side of the keyboard? This may be a connection problem in the keyboard
Does plugging in an external Keyboard via USB help? If the problem persists, it may be a software problem. -

Could try that link to update the bios of your laptop. might fix it.
Just select an operating system from the drop down menu, I don't think it matter which you select. Then look for the BIOS section and download and install that stuff. Maybe get your partner to take a look if your not confident on it.
-
Oh god, no. Don't flash your bios unless you KNOW what you are doing. Please. I've seen more than a few cases of people who screw it up.
-
Yeah, messing with the Bios is a good way to brick your computer.
-
BIOS tampering is dangerous. Last resort.
-
Done it loads of times. Then again, I've been messing with the inner workings of computers since early childhood.
-
Sadly nothing has worked, even called the company and they couldn't help. Not sure what to do?
-
I could try to troubleshoot with Teamviewer, but I don't know if I can solve the problem.

Correct me if any of this is wrong, I try to recap what we know of the issue:
Keys stopped working suddenly. Not all keys, just some, and not the same keys all the time, but they move around?
Plugging in an external keyboard by USB did not resolve the issue, issue remains the same?
Both the original and the USB keyboard have been checked for crumbs/etc that could cause mechanical failure (key presses not registering normally)?
You have tried rebooting the PC by holding down the power button for a good while? (at least 15 seconds)
Have you tried starting the PC in safe mode?
How old is the PC and does it still have any warranty left?
Do they stop working in certain programs, or all of them?If all this holds true, then I'd say that the fault is in the hardware - could be that the connection between the motherboard and the keyboard is faulty. In which case (with a laptop) you'd really need some proper repair/a new one.
At least, that's my guess. I think other causes are pretty much ruled out by now. -
If an external keyboard does not solve the problem, the issue could be software rather than hardware.
-
Could, but then it should (hopefully) be fixed by rebooting or running in safemode.
I wonder if you could re-instal the drivers for the keyboard? -
Puffy I've had a similar problem with my laptop's usb drive not working. I was able to fix it by going to "Control Panel" then "Device Manager" then looking for my USB slots in there and as it turned out the drivers were all there but they were set to "disabled" for some reason. So I turned them back on and they started working again.
I suggest you go to said "Device Manager" and look for your keyboard there, if there's no disabled/enabled option just try and click on the update driver option. If there's nothing in the keyboard section then the problem is that you don't have any drivers for your keyboard installed on your computer at all and setting that up would require more text than I can fit in a post.

This is a long shot: go to control panel -> Region and language -> Keyboard and make sure you're got the right language AND country set. You may have to try out different ones and see which keys work on which region. Sometimes English international works, sometimes the specific one for your country works…
I had a desktop that wanted to be British so bad it changed the keyboard language to the UK on every restart. You would think that if you had this set wrong the wrong character would just show up in your typing, but for some reason it just shuts off some keys. This actually seems mechanically improbable for it to work this way, but for some reason it does.
If this isn't the case there is another bug in windows that I might be able walk you through but I've never had to do it so I'm not sure how to troubleshoot... does it have a "Windows" key in the bottom left of your keyboard?

Was a gift and it's been nearly three months since I got it. Also tried reinstalling w8 but didn't work, looked into the control panel idea but sadly no result.
