Good pvp ethics = good karma

Everyone is familiar with the good ol rule "If you can think of a reason not to FD someone that'd create more fun, try and do that" it sounds harder than it really is, and I don't blame you if you think that way.
In the past though I noticed something interesting in an event that's worth mentioning, if you consistently practice good pvp ethics you actually generate IC reasons for people to do the same for you, here's an example and a true story. (It's not spoilery anymore since there were no long standing plots involved and all the characters in it are dead no worries)
In a Moloch event where a tychan treasure hunting contest was called via sending, Alexander, Tanivek and Genar (I think it was Genar anyways) had just finished fighting the boss guarding the treasure, Alex and Gen were knocked out from the fight and winded, then all of a sudden Hrar and Natalie showed up in all their lycan badassery.
Thing is at that time Tan probably had 3 levels on the both of them and a load of silver gear, I was hoping they wouldn't attack because it'd be very hard to justify a reason for not killing two monsters that attacked him while he was wounded should he win.
The fight took a long time, almost died, Hrar got away and Natalie got knocked out but I realized something just then, the fight lasted a loooooooong time, at any given time during the entire fight either one of the two could have finished off Alexander or Genar who were knocked out right in the middle of the battlefield, they didn't out of good pvp ethics which gave Tanivek the perfect excuse to let Natalie go, they showed mercy to his kin despite being monsters to his eyes and he'd be below them if he didn't return the favor.TL;DR, good pvp ethics not only makes the person you're fighting more likely to return the favor but in many cases actually gives them the IC excuse they needed to justify said ethical actions.
PS: Cadiz is a model pvper and you should all have his babies to populate the world with better people.

Although I agree with most of this thread, I dont really think it's that hard to come up with a reason to leave someone alive. Crazy bandit who robs everyone? Take his gold and leave him for dead. Bury a poison weapon in them and leave them behind. Leave your mark on them somehow identifying them as your victim. Try and brainwash them into being on your side/use them to further your plots. Put value on some other factors and disregard that flicking on .pvp full makes the most sense. It makes the server more enjoyable for all.

Its really easy to leave someone with the assumption they're dead. Its a simple plot device in all manner of books and movies.

THIS! Most people probably don't think of this due to the somewhat Meta of there being a distinct difference between dead body and subdued in the mechanic. If there are other people with you, it would be difficult to pull off without breaking imersion due to the fact that they might meta "He isn't dead yet!" Even if they're like 100 meters away, but if you are by yourself and you justs walk off thinking they are dead…. this could be a wonderful device for later.
