Graphics Issue with dyes?
-
Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in bugs or ask a DM but settled on this.
Certain gear, mostly cloaks as far as I can tell, look to me either completely or partially like a shiny silvery mirror. I know they appear like an actual color to other players. After trying a couple cloaks and some different dyes I think the problem is the way I see certain dyes. I say this because the immune to colorspray cloak[[i]The Gray?] looked grey but when I dyed it the color I wanted, it turned to silvery mirror. I think the color was darkest forest green.[sry it was late] Then when I redyed it black, the silvery effect went away and it was the crummy not quite black color.
Any suggestions or ideas are appreciated. No fun not being able to see everyone's bling!

update your graphics card drivers
then reconfigure nwn in the opening splash screen
if you are using compatibility colors you wont see the goodness -
Drivers are up to date.
Configured for best graphics.
Card old but way newer than NWN- 512MB of DDR5 should handle this game, so it's something specific about the way dyes are getting handled. I'm at work but maybe will post card type later. I didn't know about compatibility colors though so that's promising. This is driving me nuts.Edit: Could it have anything to do with override folder?

It could have everything to do with the override folder.
Try emptying it and 're run the downloader

Shiny means missing texture though. So either the haks are missing files(everyone would have the problem) your version of the haks are missing files. Your installation isn't supporting one of the texture formats (would probably be more than cloaks) or the files aren't loading for some reason (sometimes textures from haks don't load up) did you try closing and re loading the game after seeing a missing texture?

yea, as Zool says. Most likely an override not corresponding to coa's etc.. Had the same issue with certain swords that just turned shiny on coa when I added some overrides for sword models. Cleared the override and folder and put in coa's only. Problem was solved.

OK I emptied Override and ran updater. Issue still there.
Ditto Hak folder.
Been playing with my char this way for a while so definitely relogged lots.
Turned graphics all the way down except textures(left at 64) then played with all the settings to no avail.
What I did notice. which may or may not behelpful, is that when I turn environment mapping on creatures off, the shiny look goes to white.
I also .sethak off and .sethak on gain.
Thanks for the help Zool and Zav. Hopefully we can figure this out cause it's getting frustrating. -
Check your textures.tpa

by close and reload the game, I didn't mean re log, I meant actually shut down NWN, and reload it. The whole program, not just the server.

Alright..sorry if I'm slow…I usually directconnect then shut down then come back and restart NWN..Am I missing something or is that what you meant?
-
if your restarting the entire game, then that's what I meant to try yeah. The game loads up the textures when you boot it up, then it loads up the hak textures as you login to the server, but it only does this once, so you have to restart the whole program to try to reload the textures.
If that isn't working, then I am fairly stumped, and can only assume it is some kind of graphics card issue.

That is so not what I wanted to hear. If you are stumped then chances are not good.

I once had a similar issue for a while, however after re-installing nwn I have not come across the issue again. Might be worth a try if nothing works

Well, yeah, there was the chance that 64meg texture.pack wasn't installed during installation, but you eliminated that possibility
