Tex Shoeman - Scumbag, Criminal, Sline
-
Tex Shoeman was a dyslexic, homossexual Arabel local. Took after his father in learning the trade of a shoemaker. All that came to change the day the Primordial fell, turning his life upside down. He was out of the job, with no particular skills in any other trade since he never could figure out written words on his own. His wife left him for an obese merchant, taking with her their two small children.
This caused Tex to become wildly distrusting and hateful of many things. The nobles that failed him. Merchants since one took his wife away. The gods that never took to his side. Women as backstabbing she-devils. He took solace in trusting only himself and his own intentions, embracing Mask for self-centered independence and shady dealings, living the life of a lowly gang member before taking to mercenary work and bounty hunting.
IG events and interactions ended up shaping his personality. He become more tolerant of many things, while vehemently becoming opposed to others. All thanks to his numerous fellow schemers, allies and enemies alike. You know who you are.
Humble beginnings. Tex explores the Citadel for the first time.
!
He meets Aghanim Foxsilver and they become partners in crime. Foxy was Tex's first friend in a long time, so he developed somewhat of crush on him. Here they are tailing a random adventurer in the ruins. They end up killing him as he attacks them in a panic and they steal the artifact he was holding. Taretha snatched it at first but Tex and Fox beat it off her, only to sell it back to her later on once they found no use for it.
!
Tex soon made enemies of Warik's crew, and began spying on them and consolidating allies for their gang war. But things take a turn for a worse when an ambush is foiled by an elf delivering bread. The unconscious Foxsilver is killed while Tex holds his hand. They later held a funeral for him, formed a short-lived gang called the Dead Fox, and then divided out his loot. It was the one time Tex got super emotional about something.
!
! After Foxy's death Tex tells his crew to lay low and stay away from Warik's people, but ends up breaking that accord himself when see an opportunity to end the werewolf but ultimately fails when Kunju shows up. He was able to get away at that time but on a later day Warik ambushes Tex's party as they were heading out for a job and gets himself caught and slain. Foxsilver is avenged.
Tex tried becoming an Agent in order to abuse his status for his own gain. Believed that killing Warik would be reason enough to be allowed in. He was wrong though, as someone ratted him out and ousted his chances of making the cut. He was told he was under investigation and therefore could not join the Agents program. Smart Hardcastle.
!
His gang suffers a fallout on a botched job and ends up getting disbanded. One of them turns to Clar Banda. Two others became Agents, and thus potential threats to his operations. Tex became concerned with Victor's growing influence and so he decides to spy on him one day and finds out a plot to have someone murdered. He sees this as a chance to ruin his old partner's credibility and so he takes it. Things spiral out of control though and he ends up killing a whole bunch of people in the sewers, something that got him exiled from the Citadel and intensifying his hatred for Hardcastle and other figures of authority.
!
Upon his exile Tex seeks new allies and performs many shady dealings to keep Citadel people away from Old Town affairs, such as green skinned paladins bringing their 'justice' into the quarter, as well as waging a behind the scenes war against Hardcastle's influence.
!
Until he met his death in a dark hole, trying to murder somebody for the Mains. More than he deserved if you ask me, despite being a tragic victim of fate that made him who he was.
!
THE END.
