Ranger tracking: relevant skills
-
What skills are checked in ranger tracking? Numerous forum and google searches haven't turned up the answer. I had assumed it was just search, because in default nwn search is often used for inanimate objects (and this is ICly looking for the tracks left by creatures, not the creatures themselves), but judging from my new char's rubbish performance at it, I suppose I was wrong.
If some clever person could tell me what the exact mechanics are, I'd appreciate it. And if a forum admin could add that info either here or here, or both, that'd be a boon to new rangers.
Thank you

If I remember well:
- search
- spot
- animal empathy
- lore (for magical creatures)
- level
as per mechanics spot and search give you an idea of the distance and direction while the others add info of the thing you are tracking.
Weather should affect the results.
Now how does that work it's not clear to me but I assume it's DC related and considers the hide/MS skill of the other creature (if memory does not betray me) -
