The city of tyyche

threatening officials of the tyche faitt..
would probably mean that the shops and npc's within in arabel would not trade with you or even respond to you.
it may not be against the law to basically ignore the tyche faith but i feel that an ic reaction from npc's contacted by "wanded" members of the tyche church would give the faith some measure of authority (in the eyes of the pc community who seem to convenintly ignore it) and allow pc's to be punished by not being served in the inns and shops of Arabel.
maybe this should be a suggestion but i wanted a discussion about the power of tyche's clergy within tyche's city

It may be "Tyche's City" however there are many faiths worshiped and for the most part only clerics, paladins, etc pray to one god. Most commoners pray to whatever god holds the portfolio of what they want. If they are hunting they pray to malar, farming Chauntee, want justice done Tyr and so on and so forth. I think as a general server rule, this would be a bad idea that would reduce player conflicts and interesting stories. If, however, the tycian PC's would like to see something like this happen, I think they should do some epic things to earn it in game.

The Church of Tyche already has ways to make there power felt.. ask Luckbringer Mora Tobin player.

To my mind at least the pantheon of COA for the common man is rather like the Roman theology. I.e people pray to the gods that can help their current situation. Aside from that you have dedicated clerics of a particular god who further their religion and of course paladins, who by nature are also devoted to a single deity.
That said Tychee would curry considerable respect in arabel and slagging off one of their priests would be similar walking into a major cathederal and shouting anti christian remarks.
If you werent arrested, you would be ostracised.

It's a polytheistic world. People pray to dozens of Gods every day, good, evil, neutral, lawful, chaotic, depending on the situation.
Tyche commands the greatest following because during the time of troubles, Tymora resided in Arabel (this is canon). Naturally, when a God lives in your city, you tend to pay a bit more attention to her. Arabel is the "Holy Land" as far as Tymorans are concerned, so naturally, the faith is concentrated a great deal around here, which in turn translates into enormous influence for the church.
Degrading any God is a bad, bad, BAD idea. They can and do listen to it! In FR, Gods are a real, tangible part of people's lives. Their priests work miracles, so much so that it's commonplace, even mundane. Degrade their followers, work against them, proclaim your own God's superiority, all good; But insulting another God directly is dangerous territory, unless you are a Chosen, a Champion or something that allows you to call upon your own deity's protection directly.

Even when Thune was fighting Raghat, neither one insulted the other's god, they did not even really proclaimed the superiority of their own gods. They merely claimed they had more -favor- of their god.
