Regarding the war and NPCs
-
Just to clarify.
When we say the "west has been overrun by Harts" for example, we cannot really spawn 10000 NPCs in the west. We will just leave a token number of NPCs to represent the district is now occupied.
This doesn't mean that the entire district is occupied by 10-15 NPCs that you can attack and kill and declare the west has been retaken.
The main reason is, lag would be intolerable if we properly spawned the actual number that SHOULD be there.
Please keep this in mind, questions can be posted below. Strictly OOC questions.
If you plan on going into any occupied zones AT ALL, please GET A DM TO DO SO. The NPCs not attacking you doesn't mean they WOULDN'T, just that we made factions non-hostile so new players who don't fully understand the situation don't get ganked every time they enter an area they shouldn't, ICly.
Moving in occupied zones without a DM can be considered metagaming.

Would this be true, even for indiviuals who, for instance, support the Harts? Are they not to be in the west, or are they not to be in the Gildred District?
So, Wyverns moving into Hart territory is bad.
Harts going anywhere except in their occupied zones is bad? -
Could we get a list of occupied zones? Or a notification of what zones are occupied when entering one?
For example, the road bit outside of Arabel's gate (the one where Red hart compound used to be), is that occupied? There are two knights there, but I think they have always been there, guarding the road. Or Flynn - There used to be two guards outside the crypt. Does that mean flynn is also occupied, or is it under CoG's protection?
-
Also, what about making new characters? If the city's under siege I dont see a new character arriving, tbh. Not that I have one right now but may by the end end of the week.
-
Red Harts:-
- High road from eveningstar to Arabel
- Marliir's march, from the manor to Arabel
- East Way road, from the end of Easthaven to the East Gate of Arabel
- Calantar's way just outside the south gate.
- Eveningstar
If you are in an area which is 1 transition away from these areas, it can be classified as dangerous. IE, if a DM catches you there, we might spawn response forces. This is because they would be typically scouted. More than 1 transition, reasonably safe.
MG, East and Central. That's it. Anywhere else is dependent on PC presence, there are no NPC watchfuls in any other area.

New players / characters will be allowed into Arabel. A besieging army usually tries to drive all outlying folk into the city, not kill them.
Not out of altruism, but more people in the city means that the food stores will be depleted faster, potentially starving the city into submission.

Does that go for anyone? even if they are not involved in the fighting?
Many areas on the server require you to go through some of those occupied areas.
-
Think about it for a while.
Why would they allow armed independents through military controlled districts when these same independents are part of the forces attacking them?
-
even if they are not involved in the fighting?
You happen to be in the middle of a siege. There is no such thing as "not involved".
-
Any thoughts about how couriers would work? Say, for instance, somebody you know got stranded on this or that side of the battle line. You want to get a letter from your side to theirs. Is it possible?
-
Messages passed between people on either side during a siege would be treated with LARGE amounts off suspicion. Anyone trying to pass a message to anyone other than a person in authority in the relevant army would likely be killed on sight as a potential spy. and then the message would be retrieved and checked.
That is of course, just my hunch.

Curiosity killed the cat.
How do the Harts have such a large number of forces after getting depleted by the Legion war? Not sure if the message still pops up, but everytime you enter evening star it does give a message supporting the general idea that they have a signicantly small number of forces..
-
I don't think he really meant 10000. Most armies in medieval times (And many Medieval fantasies) are big if they have a thousand men in them. But there have been armies in CoA's past who had such large quantities that they had to make due to prevent lag. I remember when the Slime Cult attacked crag the Grodd were grouped into "25 Grodd Assassins" or "15 Grodd Archers"

Was curious about this myself. Looks like we're both dead cats.

That's because we never updated those messages.
As to how they managed to raise such a force, find out IG.
