Three Holy Men Walk into the Helmlands…

I can't help but giggle at this. But mad props to you guys for having the balls to do this and stand up to it. This is the shit I like to see players doing - the going out and doing wild things bit. Challenging balors on your own…bit risky!
-
Oh I did not say we challenged it.. more like it was an unexpected guest and we shit our pants right before ending up in the fugue. There was nothing valorous about today >_<
-
destroying evil magical artefacts in a very unstable land where magic goes wild all the time? >_>
-
Ok so it wasn't the best idea… but also was three people relatively new to the city with no real knowledge of the helmlands besides "Oh look a place with lava." I may be wrong here but isn't assuming knowledge from a past character meta-gaming?
-
But its nice and firey and i was trying to show the power of fire!

You're right. Some might make the claim that "everyone" knows about the Helmlands, but I'm not so sure.
Regardless, I hope to see more from the three of you. Send me PMs if you'd like some ideas on where to go and how to proceed, just understand that I'm not as available this week because of school papers cropping up everywhere.

A paladin of Nobanion, a cleric of kossuth, and a goodly elf just summoned a balor by mistake that raped the helmlands with fury and terror… I'll get back to you when I figure out a course of action that doesn't involve sepeku
-
Using your character's wisdom to escape to fight evil again on another day. Your Gods know that you had nothing to gain by sacrificing yourself to a Balor in a godforsaken place. Also, the Helmlands is well known for being an unstable and dangerous area so it would not be metagaming for relatively new characters to know this. Many a Cormyran commoner likely know how dangerous a place it is, so Joe Average Adventurer probably does too.
-
I, for one, believe firmly that three men who die to a Balor is sheer badassery and deserves to be applauded.
-
At least it was DM spice and you died to something memorable! Me and Hessu had three deaths in a row (entering Helmlands at level 7) each after a forest blight came down on us, and my character had his own temple before the end while Hessu helped Kreswell rise to power and dueled the Red Hart lord marshall to (his own) death.
Death sucks, I'm sure I took at least the rest of the day off that time, but ultimately it's got little enough to do with how much fun a character can end up being.
If you ask me though, your biggest mistake was accepting a party invitation from Verk.
-
Hopefully everyone involved PC's and Dm's reads this because I'd hate to have to send out a whole bunch of PM's but I've decided that even though I feel what happend really sucked and at the time none of us felt like it was really fun because of the circumstances, the best thing is to roll with the punches. When life gives you face raping balors… make a storyline out of it. So even though the original concensus from all those invovled was that we were so angry that we were going to ignore it ever happened, it would be better to accept the pain as a learning experience and a "gift" in disguise. The sentiments felt by all are not exactly erased but complaining isn't making the situation any more fun. Hopefully those involved will join me in turning this sour experience into an epic storyline.

Good man.

Bring the awesomeness.

Not everyone gets to summon a balor. That is a truly unique experience.
