I think as with anything new there is some time for adjustment.
Some people will have a hard time adjusting to another PC being in charge.
I would guess people will be more relaxed with it in the future.

RE: So let's talk about cheating and why it happens (no pedantry please)
Speaking without any real knowledge on the matter so don't take my words for a fact.
But I'm willing to bet most of the people cheating were probably doing more than fine to begin with. -

I don't think you can get around the "grind". Its all a matter of perspective. If everything is made more accessible then the new system will in time be considered a "grind". Increasing levels and loot wont change this. If you start at 2 and can get level 11 or 12 thats a grind sure. But if you start at 6 and can get level 16 that will also be considered a grind eventually. People will also find out that the difference between a level 10 and a level 16 is far, far greater than the difference between a level 6 and a level 12.
So all in all I don't think you can remove "the grind" there will always be a new thing that is considered a grind.

RE: Now that the election is over...
Losing the next election doesn't mean the end of the character. Presumably.

RE: Maintaining average server levels vs max levels
I was under the impression that the soft cap was at level 10 and hard cap was 11.
Given that you can get from level 2 to almost level 10 without needing a reset. -
RE: Now that the election is over...
I believe there should perhaps be a voice to represent the commoners as well.
Say, the adventurer's votes only stand for 30-50% of the actual votes or something like it.
That means previous popularity, nobility etc can be played into effect more.I also think the ending was very weird, especially with some of the positions making close to zero sense from an IC standpoint. If I'm wrong about that I'm happy to be corrected though.
